Honestly I would not choose neither, but if I am forced to I would prefer Arch.

Please elaborate on why neither is desired and why arch is preferably the one that you would be forced to choose.

I don't like Canonical and new (>18.04) versions of Ubuntu

Arch is okayish but I don't like to blindly update entire system every week

WHAT DO YOU USE?

Depends. For some machines Debian, for some AlmaLinux, few are running Gentoo and NixOS

I would choose neither but if forced to pick I would say Ubuntu

this is just to restore balance to the thread after the other reply said the opposite

I considered Arch, but stayed with Debian, but I can't remember exactly why. I think I started reading about issues people had with rolling updates, or just ran into installation wonkiness.

I was distro shopping awhile back, and most distros I tried did not install properly. I was a bit surprised, since they were all popular, and installation hasn't been an issue for the distros I've used in the past (which includes Slackware).

Arch. Because it grinds some people's gears

I use Debian because it's like a more generic form of Ubuntu. I get to be a Linux Mint baby by choosing the Cinnamon desktop environment while also pretending to be a generally competent Linux user.

Arch Linux... I've heard arguments, but I genuinely have a hard time seeing any situation where I would need that level of control.
