if i were you, i'd keep myself free around 8-10am ET tomorrow. the sooner you know about it, the higher odds you got in your favor

Is this a new feature announcement or a security bug, because the way you worded this I can’t tell? 🤣
👀
You giving me gas ⛽️ 🔥!!
Looking forward to this big announcement. I hope it doesn’t disappoint.
If I were to guess what would meet that level of expectation it would be a fully running fedimint… into the node, but I know that’s too early.

Hardware + OS updates 🤔
I’m going to go out on a wild one here and guess you are making an app to use the pi for mining. Very small chances but the jade hww did it, why not?
I can wait to put those 3 hashes per second of compute power that's left over to work!!
I know, but solo mining would be very beneficial to the bitcoin network even at a really small scale. When solo miners win the block reward it takes tons of money out of the hands of the companies that are trying to gather large percentages of the mining industry.
And a solo miner payed a couple bucks for a lotto ticket and won.
The odds of winning, even if everyone on Earth solo mined with a RaspPi, is extremely small. Like once in a thousand years small.
But it’s also very low cost for a chance to win.
If you don’t want to compete then it’ll be easier for me to win 😂
Actually it won't. Me competing or not has no bearing on your chance to win.
Total Hash rate is precisely correlated to the difficulty of winning a block.
The more total hash power the less likely your chance of winning. Someone else could guess the number before you.
For example, if I was the only miner, difficulty would very low and it would be set to allow me to find a block every 10 minutes on average.
With many competitors it’s significantly more difficult to win.
Not true at all. Because there is another block that follows. This isn't a winner take all event. If I was the only miner on the network, my odds of getting the bext block are obviously 100%. But the odds of that block being mined in my lifetime, if only using a RaspPi, are essentially zero.
The difficultly at the moment is is the difficultly and everyone is competing against that. Not against each other.
If you look at the block rewards there are several individual miners that win blocks.
You should research difficulty some more.
When difficulty adjusts, you can win a block in 10 minutes on average as the only miner.
The difficultly would never adjust because you'd never mine the requisite blocks to ever have difficulty adjust.
I see what your saying, but we would never go from where we are today to 1 miner. That’s also unrealistic.
Well, yeah, I hope that's true.
My point still stands that difficulty and number of miners does effect your chances of winning. Less hash power does increase my odds.
That's just simply wrong though.
So what’s the point of increasing hash power or having a higher percentage of total mining power if you have the same chance of winning as a small operation?
Increased power gives you a better chance. But most are pool mining so they'd get the benefits of a larger percentage of the pool's winning. But increasing to say 160k hashes from 80k hashes per second, like a Jade would give, takes you from near zero to still near zero of a chance.
Ok, but the chances are higher 🤨
That’s all I said. I understand the nuance of the statement I made. I’m not likely to win, but my chances are higher.
But your action requires energy and cost. Why do that? It's a drop in the ocean of hashpower.
Rationality has nothing to do with our conversation. You said I didn’t have a higher chance which is statistically false. You are rounding.
Yeah, I'm rounding. You have a 0.000000000% of winning a block. Double that and you still have a 0.000000000% of finding a block.
If the chances are 0 then how are solo miners winning blocks?
It's a rarity and they probably have somewhat significant hashpower. Not mining on CPUs.
GPU mining is horrible for bitcoin mining. You need to take your AI ass back to school and listen to people that are smarter than you.
I said CPU. You're talking about mining on a RaspPi.
Dude you said NOT CPU mining. GPU mining is really the only competitor. Enjoy your weekend.
If you have a needle in a haystack, having millions of other people also trying to find a needle in their haystack doesn't make your search any more or less difficult. The difference is that if someone finds it before you, you just get a new needle in a new haystack to search for. If the difficulty adjusts down because of hash power decreasing, sure, your odds have marginally increased. But then your odds are fixed for the next two-ish weeks depending on your hash power. Mining with a RaspPI still gives you the same, near zero odds regardless of what hash rate does over the next few years, barring total collapse.
Right so if you don’t contribute hash power through your node then my chances are higher. All else equal.
Umbrel, you took a non tech dude like me and brought me to a point that I successfully ran the Umbrel platform…….
What are you up to next?
👀 ?
Unless you are giving away #bitcoin machines, this hype is going to backfire 😆
Ya I sure hope this announcement lives up to the hype
Get your umbrels ready ☂️ ⚡️
The Suspence is killing me!

Excited
Unless it's UmbrelCoin airdrop with staking
- from a thankful user
Will the surprise be the approval of all the awaiting umbrel-apps PRs? 😐
A poopie coin? 🧻🪠
At this point of hyping I tend to no longer believe the hype.
I hope this improves the overall experience of running a raspberry home-server just a little bit.
Well? 😆
Am I a noob or is nothing listed on the umbrel announcements page still?
