working on anything interesting these days?
I think so. I’m working on learning cryptography better. Little by little have been studying a few things ( e.g. zkp’s), with the goal of getting up to speed enough on these things that I can participate in the discourse at the cutting edge.

I've been working on helping people set up nodes, and working on software to help merchants accept lightning using their own nodes! I have some accounting software I've written for CLN, and I maintain and teach CLN plugins.
Impressive and important work. Hope to see you around here more. Took me a couple visits to nostr before I got hooked

nostr feels much harder to get engagement than Twitter.
on Twitter I just post stuff and then I have interesting conversations.
on Nostr it feels like I have to chase after people to get them to respond.
then usually they just ghost anyway and the effort feels wasted.
but I'll keep trying I guess! I like the idea of Nostr, and I'll definitely spend more time here if I can get some bolt12 zaps!

Seriously though, I think it grows on you after a week or two. Way lore interesting posts imo, and interactions more meaningful. Plus, no concerns about the what some algo might be doing to your psyche!
I'd rather have an algo recommend interesting things than spend 10x the effort for less fun

There are plenty of people here. I haven't used other socials in nearly two years. I deleted them all a year ago or so. Nostr is the only social that matters. It's the most authentic and active community of people I ever come scores on my 30 years of being on the Internet.
Perhaps using Nostr only a few times a year, essentially making it your own personal ghost town, is why you feel it's a ghost town? As with most things in life that require work, if you put time and effort into Nostr, you'll reap the benefits. If you don't put forth any effort, you'll have a bad experience.

I was a Bitcoiner first...Uhm...Definitely more into Nostr. Though I understand that the two have a beautiful symbolic relationship and I speak at Bitcoin conferences about Nostr.
Nostr probably wouldn’t exist without bitcoin. Now bitcoin is becoming more useful because of Nostr.

Of course, there are lots of other ways to communicate freely without Nostr, but it's definitely one of the more interesting ways!

WhatsApp? No. Signal? Yes. Though Signal is a company and could disappear along with their infrastructure and my ability to communicate.

Yep, doing Lightning plugin stuff, helping people run nodes, running meetups, the usual!
ftr I usually check in on Nostr every few months because every previous time it's sucked. this time was noticeably different.
