The covenent of the Old Testament was fulfilled by Jesus Christ, and Israel is His church.

That nation today is a false idol that, Americans especially, were duped into worshipping via the Scofield Bible, which makes Christians serve two masters: Jews and then God (Christ).

This civil war era theology, called Dispensationalism, became nearly unanimous in the states, but it is finally beginning to lose it's grip as boomers fade from influence.

In it's place, the original (and highly based) form of Protestantism is returning: Covenant Theology, frequently called Calvinism.

Jerusalem and the Jewish temple were destroyed in 70AD, as was promised in God's Word. Christianity, Christ's church, succeeds and becomes Israel.

God does not maintain a kingdom in Heaven for Jews and another Kingdom in Heaven for Christians.

Not a single soul gets to the Father without going through the Son. Everyone in heaven is Christians.

Therefore, Christians should rejoice that this land is Christ's, and focus on building His kingdom.

As someone newer to faith in Jesus, this note is so helpful. I haven’t understood why some are so adamant that America must protect Israel. The whole thing has so felt so bizarre and I knew literally nothing about Israel before the October attack.

Thank you! I will definitely check these out!

At least get them on your shelf or eReader for later study.

Might also train your own Covenant Theology LLM to query in order to build up your mental model and fortify your salvation.

Lots of tricks in this world.

TLDR we were tricked but it serves God's plan because Americans were not holding steadfast to our theological roots, and became vulnerable to capture. Serving Jews, who are working to destroy Christendom, while losing salvation is a just judgement.

Based on what I have learned thus far, this is the conclusion I’ve been coming to.

"Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it." - Matthew 7:13

Our men's group is just starting a book that documents this abandoning of the faith once and for all delivered to the saints, specifically from the view of how American evangelicalism's Christology has been warped over time.

We started off strong in the colonies, when much of the populace had come here to flee from Charles II's oppression of the Puritan dissenters. The church here was serious about knowing God through his revealed Word, summarized in the historical creeds and confessions, and yet they were no less devoted and full of adoration for their firm adherence to sound doctrine, as evidenced by men like Johnathan Edwards.

Gradually, though, the American church abandoned a historically grounded and theologically rich foundation for their faith in favor of a "me and Jesus" and "Jesus is my homeboy" brand of irreverent and unmoored spirituality that emphasizes Jesus as our example, while downplaying his role as Savior and Lord. A church that asked the question WWJD (What would Jesus DO?) without considering what Jesus already did, is doing, and will do, or even the more fundamental question of who Jesus is, portraying him in idolatrous iconography as a white-robed hippie who somehow had modern hair products to enhance his luscious (often blonde) locks.

If this enslavement to "Israel" is a judgment from God against the American church. It's one that they have earned by abandoning the faith they inherited from their forebears. The covenant cuts both ways; blessings and curses.

Forgot to even mention the book title!

It's 'Jesus, Made in America' by Stephen J. Nichols.

Theology lesson on Nostr. Yes please.

Nailed it!

The only thing I might have worded differently is when you said "Christianity, Christ's church, succeeds and becomes Israel." The church is, was, and always has been the Israel of God. It did not take over that role from the Jews.

True Israel has always been those who are the believing remnant.

As we passed from the Covenant of Grace prior to the incarnation of Jesus Christ to that same Covenant of Grace after his ascension, the people of that covenant didn't shift from the Jews to the Gentiles; it expanded. Before it had been almost exclusively, with some notable exceptions such as Ruth, for believing Jews. It expanded to be believing Jews and Gentiles. It's just that the declaration of Jesus as the long awaited Messiah quickly acted as a litmus test of who the true believers among the Jews really were, and showed that the vast majority were not, because they rejected him.

The Church did not "become" or "replace" Israel. It is the rightful continuation and expansion of the covenant people of God, true Israel.

Well stated, sir. 🕊️

Respect

This is the most based note of all time. Well put, sir

This morning I read in John 15:6 that Jesus says everyone who doesn't abide in him is a faggot

Abide in deez nuts.

The big big Big problem here is that there is a lot of interpretation, following, repeating and mouth talking without people actually reading the word of God in the Bible.

Unless people are directly quoting Scripture the talk is nonsense. At least with Scripture there can be a point of discussion otherwise it's just Babylon.

Cool. Here's a starting point:

Galatians 3:7-9

> [7] Know then that it is those of faith who are the sons of Abraham. [8] And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, “In you shall all the nations be blessed.” [9] So then, those who are of faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.

Or Romans 2:26-29

> [26] So, if a man who is uncircumcised keeps the precepts of the law, will not his uncircumcision be regarded as circumcision? [27] Then he who is physically uncircumcised but keeps the law will condemn you who have the written code and circumcision but break the law. [28] For no one is a Jew who is merely one outwardly, nor is circumcision outward and physical. [29] But a Jew is one inwardly, and circumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter. His praise is not from man but from God.

Or Romans 9:6-8

[6] But it is not as though the word of God has failed. For not all who are descended from Israel belong to Israel, [7] and not all are children of Abraham because they are his offspring, but “Through Isaac shall your offspring be named.” [8] This means that it is not the children of the flesh who are the children of God, but the children of the promise are counted as offspring.

Or the entire chapter of Romans 11.

That should serve as a good start for consideration.

God's covenant with Abraham continues, not through physical descentants of Abraham, but through those who share the same faith that Abraham had and it was counted to him for righteousness.

Ah, that reminds me... Should have included all of Romans 4.

Bookmarking for future study. Thanks for posting 🫡

As early as 1905, just before Christian Zionism successfully brainwashed American Christianity, maps of the Holy Land referred to it accurately as Palestine.

Israel is not the post WWII nationstate Christians have been deceived into worshipping; Israel is Christendom.

Jaws are those who rejected Christ and by doing so also rejected their Christian roots. Christ's church was called Israel and it has nothing to do with the barbaric "state" holding deceptivly the same name. To become a member of Israel you become Christian and it does not matter what is your race, ethnic origin or where you live. It is as simple as that.

I disagree. Jaws is a 1975 movie by Steven Spielberg, a jew.

Wait wait wait, the word of God was manipulated by the hands of men to achieve political ends? If that’s true, than how do we know it’s not happening with the version of the word any of us choose to believe in.

My philosophy is this: do I believe Israel (the modern state) has a right to exist? Sure. Do I think they should be allowed to do whatever want? No. Do I think their current government is anywhere near righteous? Absolutely not. Do I believe that Jews are behind everything? Not really; a few secular Jewish elite do not mean all Jews are responsible. Do I believe that Jesus Christ is the only way to the Father? 100% non-negotiable. Do I believe that God is working through His Kingdom? For sure. Do I believe He also works His will through people outside of the faith? Certainly, because His sovereign will supersedes all.

In other words, I'm not anti-Israel (referring to the modern state) but I'm also not a dispensationalist who allies with them in everything. There's a nuance to be had but sadly, many fall into the "if you're not with us, you're against us" mentality.

Thank you for sharing. I’ve been thinking about this a lot. Any chance you could point me in a direction to study up on this?

While it’s easy to find scripture passages that appear to support ANY given theology, logically, all it takes is one contradictory passage to falsify an interpretation. Dispensationalism fails badly here, but this is also where the strict versions of Covenant theology will run into difficulty — ultimately the Bible does affirm ethnic Israel as well as the gentiles grafted on, and a prophetic mass conversion of the ethnic Israel at the end times.

There’s also Christ making the old covenant obsolete (Hebrews 8:13), and not just fulfilled— which can be a challenge to both dispensationalism and strict versions of covenant theology, especially the subdivisions of legalistic covenants (Noahide, Abrahamic, etc)

All told, dispensationalism should be in the trash bin, especially as its fruit has become known. And strict legalistic versions of covenant theology will run its own risks. The old covenant points to Christ, not just partially but completely.

the goal is always Christ (the way, the truth, and the life), where we often find a “both-and” solution to these kind of dilemmas, which is reflected in early church fathers on this topic.

That said, the early church fathers did not mince words about the Jews, who lost the authority granted to them by God (the binding/loosing that Christ gave to the apostles), and that Jews had partially hardened hearts (God giving them over to their own sins).

See Chrysostom’s “Against the Jews” to get a sense of how Christians traditionally approached this subject — ethnic Jews are to be loved and the patriarchs and prophets honored, but Jews were seen as obstinate, blind to truth, and their synagogues filled with demons. And it is this group they believed will be saved in a mass conversion event at the end times.
