We are working on an idea how to build SAAS business apps on top of Nostr. The idea is to rebuild apps like Slack, Notion, Figma, Github, Linear on single Nostr relay and Nostr standard that would allow some cool things like seamless cross-app messaging (e.g. like Slack <> Linear), cross-app workflows.

Here is PDF with more details.: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1U_bC4AmR2_61GwgiShNv_EctOcyh4u7A/view?usp=drive_link

If anybody is working on something similar or like the idea and want to join our efforts, please let me know.

I'm the author of gitworkshop.dev and ngit. I like your vision. Let's talk!

Awesome. I DMed you!

Technically not Nostr, but similar idea: https://www.evolu.dev

Is it similar?

Could you share accessible version of that doc, please? Impossible to read it on the phone (font and layout)

I see you are leaking Damus internal plans lol

I read through your docs. this has been the Damus business plan since day 1. I just had to build a new kind of client (I'm called it a nostr browser) that supports many different apps efficiently in a single client, has an insanely optimized database that all the apps within the browser use to communicate, so everything is offline first:

https://github.com/damus-io/notedeck

I plan on adding slack, mail, git, project management, etc

Our initial thinking is to build alternative to Slack, because if you look at current SAAS apps, basically all of them are connected to Slack. It's the brain. My instinct is that if we can build great alternative to Slack, everything else will follow.

man I hate slack though but I get it

I'm gonna focus on nostr mail instead of slack at first (async comms > sync imo)

That's another reason why we want to rebuild Slack. Everyone hates Slack. Me as well. It's design in such a horrible way.

We have some cool ideas to make it way better, so people feel it helps them being productive opposed to being constantly distracted how Slack does it.

I'm working on flotilla.social, which is a slack/discord alternative. It should "just work" with your business suite stuff, and it already supports white labeling. I'm very interested in making a chat app that doesn't suck and isn't unhealthy for the people using it. HMU if you want to talk/contribute

Absolutely. Let's connect! I'm finding ways how to make this happen.

Left you a DM.

Penpot might be a good alternative for Figma. It is OSS and has plugin support. Prob quite feasible to consider a plugin that utilizes Nostr as backend for comments.

https://github.com/penpot/penpot-plugins

Thanks for the tip. I will add it to my list of apps that we should pitch or directly help to integrate with Nostr for Business.

I like the general idea (still need to read it through in detail), what qualities are you looking for?

My background is product strategy and I'm teaming up with my old colleague product designer. So, we are looking for engineers to help us build this.

What language/tech stack?

Don't have a preference. Will leave it up to the engineers who join us to determine what's the best stack for it.

Allright, I have no idea how and if this going to work, but am willing to try. I have a full time job and a family, but interested to see how I can contribute to this idea. I have some work done on my own relay (https://github.com/nostriphant/transpher). Am looking for a project to work on, but experiences in php. What could be a first step?

Very well explained, very exciting idea

Bring it

I agree with all of that πŸ’―%

I would add that legacy SaaS must protect its moat, so must have user lock in, which is anti-usability, and can never be as free or as pro-user as a Nostr-based solution can be.

Nostr-SaaS can outcompete with better a) account portability b) data interoperability c) no vendor lock-in.

Go to market similar to Yammer and Slack, get early adopter individuals within org and then market internally to IT team.

Step 1) Take on legacy SaaS.

Step 2) Take on legacy ERP.

πŸ’― Completely agree with you.

The reason why I'm so excited is that Nostr can bring next level of experiences and data security +ownership.

So I thing there is real chance to beat the legacy apps.

Love this

Yes, interested in joining your efforts, we have "Zoom on Nostr" which is used a lot in business and communities (hivetalk.org)

That's awesome. I will DM you and we can have a chat.

BTW I've just joined nostr:npub1jead9rr2eav0ufpgnp6azpq3tvfw0ksnkj6mlvhmkncv5v4zf2dsc7wcny on HiveTalk and it worked like a charm. Great job!

May be start by using smle Nostr tools like habla or yakihonne for long format or pdf share than gogole πŸ˜…

In my defense, I haven't planned to share it today. I was just getting feedback on nostr:npub1jead9rr2eav0ufpgnp6azpq3tvfw0ksnkj6mlvhmkncv5v4zf2dsc7wcny open hours and people there asked me to share it publicly. πŸ˜‰

Yeah this seems cool, if you need any help I’d be interested

Great, I will DM you.

Awesome Jan. We should get together.

Awesome. I will DM you.

I have worked in SaaS for several years now and I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. I think there’s huge potential! Excited to read through this

Please give me feedback and want to hear your thoughts!

Dude, I love this! I really like the idea that data/comms are essentially synced across clients, as everyone seems to have their preferred. That seems like a big unlock.

My focus is on security at SaaS companies and of SaaS products (internally and externally), so I am very curious to explore the impacts on that side of things further. I have limited technical knowledge of Nostr at the moment, but was planning to start really diving in post Christmas.

I'd love to help out, if you think it would be useful!

Also, small and minor bit of feedback - I found the font selection very hard to read πŸ˜…

Haha. Yes, the font is hard to read.

In my defense, this was the WIP version. I planned to redraw it to make it bit more readable. But then people asked me to publish it.

I will probably redraw it a bit and then publish it natively on Nostr. But don't expect miracles. I can't draw very well. 🀣

On serious note. I will DM you, I would love to talk with somebody with security and Saas experience.

I figured it was, and I have terrible handwriting so it’s hard for me to criticize lol.

But sounds great, I’d love to chat!

Excellent case studies! Just like in your sheet I see Nostr being used as one big database.

As a Drupal developer I’m highly interested in CMSes and I’ve build cross-post modules. I do have a long-term vision to nostrify Drupal which then can be used in a hybrid model (Nostr and a local / private database).

You can find more at https://nostrver.se

Do you see any crossovers of Nostr for Business and the projects you are working? Trying to put together people that might contribute in shaping this vision...

That's pretty awesome!

- Integrations and access management would be so simple.

- what is the tool that Fountain uses for user's bug reports, nostr:nprofile1qqswfa547pdmqkerzf2uen3agudc67wxffjmenqpge3dylc006fppyspzemhxue69uhhyetvv9ujumn0wd68ytnzv9hxgqghwaehxw309aex2mrp0yhxvmm4de6xz6tw9enx6qgkwaehxw309aex2mrp0yh8qunfd4skctnwv46qj40rct? I would love to natively rebuild that one on nostr. (Faster feedback loops, and would fit well into the saas suite here)

I would be curious about that as well!

Interoperate all the things!

Love this idea! I would try to find some killer use case for an integration that is currently not possible, ie something that slack integrations can’t do well

Pssst! That's in notes for the funding pitch. 🀣

In all seriousness. That's one of our priority and reason why we are so excited. This will allow completely new experiences that will be very hard to match for traditional SaaS apps.

One example that I really like. Figjam <> Notion integration where block in Notion can be placed in the Figjam whiteboars and be automatically synced. Typically when you organizing some workshop and you have brief document. That document can live in Notion, in Figjam board and the even shared in Slack. Whenever you change something, it will change everywhere.

Nice presentation. Have you thought about starting out as a support suite for businesses to build their own internal apps and tools? Feels like that could be the easiest launchpad (versus trying to replace or integrate existing apps in the wider Saas marketplace).
