Not endorsing Telegram but the only places I'm seeing the 'report' button are in group chats and channels.
I think a lot of this comes down to confusion by MSM outlets.
As I understand it, if Telegram permits you to continue the conversation from a different device, the chat is not E2E encrypted. This leaves me puzzled about the absence of the 'report' button in non-secret 1-to-1 chats. This probably won't be enough to appease the nanny state.

Secret chats will probably remain. If it is possible to report secret chats, I do not know. In the end there should be no difficulty one can also report abuse in secret chats.

I think a Nostr relay admin is still in power over what notes can be stored and which not. And I hope strongly, that there are many relays that do not accept content, that supports sexual abuse in any form.

Defnitly. I mean the cryptography does not change. It is insecure by design. The difference is that they use their entry to filter illegal actions now. Probably noone besides violators support sexual abuse in any kind.

I don't see this appeasing the surveillance state. They want a backdoor to see all comms and be able to block content they don't approve. This is probably just the tip of the iceberg for what's to come with Telegram. Hopefully, what ever happens, it will be transparent for its users. But, history has shown otherwise.

Maybe unpopular opinion. I dont care much about piracy and drug trafficking. But I have a weak spot for child abuse and any form of human rights abuse. If I know I could do something to catch them I would. I would be happy thinking my app is a honeypot to catch them.
