The reasonable response/solution to this is to enforce the law fully against violent criminals and reserve compassion/rehabilitation only for non violent offenses.
For instance if you think it’s a good idea to stick a gun in someone’s face and rob them of their property, have fun in prison, because you just forfit your life.

A necessary consequence of what I’m advocating is that it will disproportionately affect certain racial groups and yet it’s still what needs to be done. No more soft on crime “he had a bad childhood and mental issues” bullshit. If you’re a victim of childhood trauma you have my sympathy right up until you go from victim to victimizer and then we need to lock you up or execute you and be done with it.
Anyone who threatens with a gun and robs people deserves no mercy. The law must hit them to the fullest. Letting them out after such a serious crime is a betrayal of the people and public safety.
Civilization requires a spine. If you stick a gun in someone’s face, you forfeit your claim to comfort and leniency. Prison isn’t a “maybe,” it’s the bare minimum.
Violent offenders have shown that they are threat. letting them out early puts everyone at risk. Rehabilitation can be used for non-violent crimes but for serious violence deserves strict accountability.
Safety first
Any person who commits a violet crime should be locked up for life. If aren't able to live in society without hurting people, you shouldn't be able to live in it

Yeah. Violent criminals need to be physically restricted from being able to do more violent crimes until they are able to be rehabilitated, if even possible. It’s a matter of public personal safety
