Carnivore day eight, I am starting to think this diet is optimal for a more sedentary lifestyle. I haven’t had nearly the same energy during my bike rides or bouldering sessions. I will remain open minded for another two weeks but very unlikely I stick with his diet long-term.
Discussion
I think it is more of a winter diet which is what many of our ancestors ate because they ate more local foods and didn't have access to many plant foods in the winter
That is a very good point. Also naturally living in the north, I am less active in the winter time at least when it comes to cycling.
Low energy on carnivore is usually because of not enough fat. At least it is for most people. It is difficult to get enough fat unless you are actively trying to get enough fat
Interesting I’m not sure how I’m supposed to get more fat. I’ve been eating steaks and ground beef 80/20 but I did see some actual slabs of fat for sale by themselves. I will try to increase that. Definitely not low on salt.

This is very common and normal.
Your body can't possibly be truly fat adapted in such a short amount of time.
And you most likely need to up your fat intake. To get into ketosis, you need to eat 80% fat. A Ripeye steak for example doesn't have enough fat, an egg however, is closer to 80%, and butter is 100% fat (Cronometer is an excellent app to track micro and macro nutrients).
Throw butter on your steak. Worked for me for raising energy levels.
As you can see in the last pic, even with a pretty large slab of butter, you'd still only end up with 50% fat. I also struggle to ever get my meals to 80% fat. It goes against everything we have been indoctrinated to eat.
Thankfully, I *love* to snack on butter with a few flaky grians of sea salt on top.

It's not for everyone. I did it for a while and it helped me burn some fat. Lately I have been staying away from meat.
