ebay, and also refurb Mac machine websites. Not sure which of these provide service in Europe.

would love some refurb lenovos
Iโve been looking on NewEgg. Thatโs where Iโve gotten my last two ThinkPads.
Note: before 2020 (T4xx series like T480) the RAM was socketed and thus upgradable. Starting in 2020, the T- series (T14 etc.) switched to soldered RAM, meaning itโs not upgradable.
what kind of price ranges are we talking?
The pre-2020 models are $150-$300.
ser, you're giving me ideas
Check out this bad boy https://www.newegg.com/lenovo-thinkpad-14-0-fhd-touchscreen-intel-core-i7-8650u-32gb-memory-1-tb-ssd-intel-uhd-graphics-620/p/N82E16834840288
A year ago, I bought a 2019 T480 very similar to this, sans touchscreen. (donโt confuse it with the T480s, which has an integrated battery). Sourced from eBay and was really well looked for ยฃ250 ($330). Absolutely great laptop. Dual batteries (One internal, one external, both replaceable and original - still hold charge well). USB-C enabled too, and came with original power brick. Very easy to take apart and service/upgrade. With Linux, itโs as capable as my 16in MacBook Pro M2, but currently running it as a node with Start9 (think I might get another to actually use as a Linux laptop).
was looking at the newegg product page and didn't see any information regarding the batteries and the capacity of them
my current lenovo barely manages 2 hours of screentime, so anything in that regard would already be an upgrade ๐
You can probably get a replacement battery?
will have to look yeah, especially if it makes sense financially
I get about 4 hours with the dual batteries (but they are old). I keep it plugged in though, but battery life will always be the main compromise with these older laptops.
You know how big the advantage of soldered is when there is any?
In switzerland Digitec directly offers refurbed everything. I think even with full warranty
it being switzerland, i'm skeptical about the prices
Any place you know of that accepts BTC?
I donโt recommend spending bitcoin on a laptop.
System76 will accept bitcoin. Just have to reach out to them when ordering.
Are you for real?
Yes Sir. This was almost three years ago though. Apparently I wasnโt the only one either. Shoot them an email or through their support when you got your order ready to go through.
I'll do that, I was just looking at pre ordering a Framework laptop for my work laptop but I have always loved my Oryx Pronite just a bit heavy to carry all the time. The Lemur Pro is one I'd love to try..
