Hey man, I did what I could and shared the event when it was happening and then I did a couple boosts during Joe's first set. I even did a demo of the event to another musician before I had to go for the rest of the evening. Sometimes the stars don't align and I'm mostly away from Nostr on the weekends.
I'm really talking about the big boys on twitter YouTube etc. You and the rest of Nostr really big up our music. And I love that.

This is exactly it. There’s a lot of grifters that talk the talk, but their actions say something different. They say nostr will be the Twitter, Spotify, Instagram, Substack killer, but what they don’t tell you is they don’t hate what those platforms stand for, they hate that they don’t own them.
They see nostr as their chance to finally make a popular platform they control and can get rich off of. If their podcast is hosted on anchor, or their nostr account is a Primal one, that really tells you all you need to know.
I'm always here for the underdog as well and maybe that skews my judgment on stuff but I've never had more fun with all of this even if it's a complete cluster fuck right now but that's made me reevaluate my stance on this whole PC 2.0 and V4V and every-time I come out more bullish because it lets me know who's here for the same reasons and it's beautiful.

I don't think people care about #V4V music as much as they say they do. That's a general statement and not just about this show.
For this show it was a weird time for us in the US. I'm on the eastcoast and it started at 4:30 PM on a Friday when people were probably leaving work so couldn't tune in.
And also before a holiday weekend.
Timing, Memorial Day Weekend, BTC Conference coming up, and imo bitcoin influence channels are too busy repeating their same rhetoric and making sure their ego is stroked via video content.
I really think this is a weakness in what we have going here. Not just help from big accounts, but getting people to learn how to be FANS again after ages of paying for subscriptions.
Musicians need people to adopt this into daily, weekly habits. It’s a lot of work to put on the shows we all do, so we need the community to show up big.

And then I tell her it’s free but she can pay the musicians directly and the money goes direct to their wallet. She reallly liked that part.

Do you think it might be because the younger generation has a fundamentally different relationship to music that we're not quite understanding?
Most of the people I know involved in the music stuff are older. I'm not sure any are under 30. I'm in my 40s. I remember making mix tapes on cassette. I can hear a song and my mind goes to the next song on the CD automatically because I listened to that CD so many times.
Music wasn't just background noise. It wasn't a song in the background of a TikTok video, or a streaming service playing non-stop music on random. It was an intentional activity, I had to think about the song I wanted to hear, find it the CD in my stack, put it into the player, and hit play. I then got 50 minutes of the listening experience before I had to make a new decision.
It might be possible that we're building tech for a bygone era when people use to care, and they simply don't anymore. They're used to listening to any song they want for $9.99 per month (less than how much I was paying for 1 CD in 2002). Music isn't something special, it's just the background noise to the TikTok video we call life.
There is a trend of well curated playlist being posted and shared.
The AI DJs make interesting selections at times.
I think this to a large degree. You should read that new book about spotify. It talks about this specifically. The people, they want playlists. And when spotify injects AI music into the pkaylists that kicks back money to them, listeners don't care.
The Playlist is the thing. I was blown away. Making it on one of these playlists is life changing for your music.
So yes, I really agree with you. We are trying to bring back an early 00s style of music based on the artist and song.
Honestly, I hate listening to music like this. I dont want a computer to listen to music.
So in that sense, if we are trying to catch the masses yes, we already failed. We should embrace AI music playlists and chase the fad.
Bandcamp honestly does this so much better. I can buy the physical album and also have the digital downloads. But I like supporting people trying to make authentic stuff in a DIY manner.

I think the voucher idea is great. I also listen to a lot of #V4V music shows so I knew some of these tracks already.
I think the music shows are a great way to onboard people. They play great tracks and also guide people on how to use this stuff. Its a very slow grind but it works. Most of the people hosting the shows listed below never touched Bitcoin until a few years ago.

I do best my best effort to not be online on a Friday night, and I would recommend everyone do the same thing... so there's that.
But I love the initiative! Did something similar last summer in Neuchâtel with the nostr:nprofile1qqs8k37n0uln972gfmwg0gnu8pl4az7kxxjh9trk66fyfjp0963y7qcpzamhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuurjd9kkzmpwdejhgtcs5j64y people. It's tough to cut through the noise, but perseverance is our friend. The cause is worth it anyways. It might not be easy, but the rest will come in good time. I'm sure of it
