I’ve got the two part series. Certainly some great writing and perspective - but when I’ve seen him and others speak candidly, or at the WEF etc, it’s been a reminder to take it all with a grain of salt. Fortunately we’re all capable of thinking for ourselves here.

Have any musicians here been through a copyright lawsuit? I had to go through one with a label when I was just starting out. It drained my spirit in every way. Ended up having to sell my rights in the end anyways. The lawyer I was working with was generous and didn’t charge me as a “welcome to the industry” lesson. Had he done so, I would have been in debt. It’s my belief that the current copyright/IP law is meant to serve major artists and labels with the resources.

Not saying I agree - but they tend to make new recordings of old hits that require only paying a smaller portion of the licensing fees, while still getting all the plays. It’s a particular type of hell. 🦫

It’s true while most of the focus is on how to monetize, the vulnerabilities in infrastructure are often overlooked. Music platforms taking away the option to download should not have become the norm.

Agree - but I’m testing my arguments and realizing we are way too technical. Trying to ease in some fundamentals. But this release was a great catalyst to knock down the door and lead by example.

Bitcoin is a litmus test for sure. I’ve found lots of engagement in other spaces to be particularly hypocritical, selective outrage and in turn bring out the worst in me (I know the algo has a role to play as well).

Therefore I have changed my tone to firmly leading by example. Which you Sir, continue to do exceedingly.

This is the most punk rock shit I’ve seen in ages.

It’s taken me awhile to reprogram my mind to speak authentically and recognize that the intent in doing so is valued here. It’s been difficult on platforms that have so many obstacles for engagement and that incentivize click/ragebait over quality. Looking forward.

I don’t wish to be naively optimistic either. But I do think we are just starting to witness the possibilities of BTC as a means of exchange/settlement layer. It took a lot of time and work to get here and I believe this tech is going to continue disrupting the status quo moving forward.

This has been my experience as well. I’m definitely posting into a void but humble about it and have to start somewhere. Even if it just sends up being a method to archive my own thoughts.

I’ve also found that people, myself included, generally want to share more here on NOSTR than on other platforms. However, it’s hard to compete with 20 years of real world connections I’ve accumulated in other spaces.

I’m aware we’re in the infancy of things here and optimistic. I heard someone say “we’re building the airplane while it’s flying” so to speak, which resonated with me.
