Yeah, when it comes to money many OGs have doubts. Bitcoin will replace gold as a store of value. Monero will replace money (the harder part).
Lightning is an L2 with different trade-offs than Monero a cryptocurrency.
You'll be able to build L2s on Monero soon. An encrypted chain + privacy layer is a better base for privacy then building on a transparent chain.
Another problem with Lightning is the difficulty to attain strong privacy without giving up sovereignty.
That's why vast majority of LN users go through custodians. The remaining use LSPs that also diminish your privacy to a degree.
Monero is also displacing Bitcoin on darknet markets, not Lightning. Virtually zero vendors on one of the most adversarial markets on earth accept Lightning. If you are a "markets are always right" guy then obviously the market values Monero over Lightning when privacy is priority.

Nah. The more people learn about CBDC's the greater the pushback will be. There will be some people in positions of power that want them but the majority of the public won't and many politicians are already positioning themselves against them. Just as we have fought to have bitcoin accepted we will fight against any introduction of CBDC's.
