I doubt WoT will ever truly work

People don’t put in the necessary time to vet their follows

pls for the love of gawd prove me wrong πŸ˜‘

Can't. Been saying this all along.

The only true WoT, is meeting at events in person.

Maybe that oughta be the WoT function, when you can somehow sign something together in close proximity of one another that makes them a verified follow

But then people who don't go to conferences and meet ups will never be in the webs? That doesn't seem good. You can always vet as you go. I appreciate when people PSA bad actors so I can unfollow/report/etc.

The internet wasn't ever built with trust in mind.

In person/ physical WoT is best.

WoT may rely heavily today on follows, but follows is not the only trust-relevant data we have to work with. Meeting someone in real life and signing a suitable attestation will be another important source of data for WoT. And there will be a thousand other inputs too.

So many variables to take into account I guess β€œever truly work” is up for debate, there could be something out there right now that truly works for someone, even though it might not to me or others..

I’m agreeing btw it might just take those thousands of inputs to truly make it work someone while only a few hundred for some

True, it does take time that not a lot of us have to spare.

Seems like it’s a waste of time to even work on it at this point, idk why anyone would even bother

Theoretically it’s a great idea but in all honesty I wouldn’t bother with it.

If I had time to spare maybe I would vet more.

I think I might’ve had an idea for a solution lemme see if I can actually pull it off

It’s a good framework, needs some work and clients have to implement. Incentive is there for development, but the checkmark curse and the understanding of each unique score requires a lot of education. Needs to be fun, and simple.

I think it’s flawed at the ground level being us the humans, nobody takes it seriously to vet their follows.. idk how it can work without us first doing that

Irl we don’t β€œscore” numerically, but we damn well score reputationally. I can’t put my finger on yet, but there is *something* there. πŸ€”

Aaaaa so time is the indicator, maybe given a large enough data set throughout time pertaining to behavior being good or bad.. mutes etc

but still there’s bound to be cracks they can slip through idk how it’ll ever work, maybe it’s something that isn’t supposed to work? that’s why the best things are trustless? Idk

Dunno. I can say with conviction reputation > score.

If I make my follow list private, do most current WoT implementations break?

You should be able to remove people from your WoT feed. Coming next to pollerama.

This assumes "follow" is how wot will work. It's being used to bootstrap rn. But more important metrics will come later bc you can't have a web when there are maybe 10 plumbers on all of nostr.

I don't see WoT as being for users.

I personlly merely want a space, to "vibe" share, "you doing OK?, I'm doing OK!"

I see WoT as being for a "company" or a "party" As WoT is critical for the delegation of Work

Any intj / entj type that gets an audience will want a WoT

What do we have to do to make wot work as intended?
