It's been since June 16th that customers have been able to buy Bitcoin via Fold. I will no longer be attempting to do so and will be moving back to Strike for my DCA and smash buys. The only reason I had left Strike was for ease of use with Fold, paying bills and buying Bitcoin in one place. Fold's continuing failures means that I can no longer use them, won't be recommending them, and won't be renewing my membership in a couple months.
Discussion
Same. I stopped my Fold subscription awhile back. I do all my bitcoin buys through direct deposit via Cash app. No fees and almost no price slippage. š¤š¼
Fold was good while it lasted. Stacking 200K sats for paying my mortgage last winter was a life hack.
what happened?
They have had issues ever since Prime Trust blew up.
ah, thanks for the enlightenment. nostr:npub1h8nk2346qezka5cpm8jjh3yl5j88pf4ly2ptu7s6uu55wcfqy0wq36rpev have you seen any issues or similar complaints? i know theyre a sponsor of the show, but hopefully you can provide honest feedback.
My dream is to have foldcard in my country, unfortunately we dont have any until now
I use their card and that's going fine. I buy on Swan.
The card works for bills just great, even though you have to use a work around and that work around disappeared a few months as go before coming back. It will happen again.
That's fair. The fold card is ultimately linked to Sutton Bank (according to Capital One), which is a fiat based institution. The Paypal bill pay hack is also ultimately a fiat institution and all subject to bureaucratic control.
I'll get rugged eventually, but the sats I get back from using the card is worth more to me in the meantime.
Iāve never used Fold, but nostr:npub1ex7mdykw786qxvmtuls208uyxmn0hse95rfwsarvfde5yg6wy7jq6qvyt9 has been my go to place for a long time. Have used nostr:npub1cashappn03s3cl2ljsdntv0v28e2um5lgx4vjctqjt23pcwzjhsqmtdg5l as well, but itās been a while.
I will say that Strike has changed some since they took their custody in house. But thatās okay, we all know you gotta make money to stay in the game. š¤š»ā”ļø
Itās a mystery for me why advanced Bitcoiners continue to use KYC solutions to buy their coins. Does the convenience worth more than privacy ?
Unless of course you buy such amounts that it becomes difficult due to small volume on P2P market places, we now have BISQ, Robosats, Peach, HodlHodl and more for P2P trading and our DCAs.
Come on guys be a good model for noobs on every aspect on your Bitcoin journey if you can !
Yes. I'm not going to spend days and days trying to find the exact amount of Bitcoin I want to buy for the exact payment method. It's a nightmare.
Yes maybe in some rare case it's to complicated.
But for example on Robosats anyone willing to pay a 3/4% premium can easily buy 1500 USD in just a couple of minute using only Strike as a fiat mean of payment in the US.
And many other options are available
Unless you buy more than 1000 USD a day of Bitcoin which is extremely rare, it's really feasible IMO, and really worth it.

Interesting. I was looking into Fold at one point. If you ever get around to it, I would be interested in hearing the issues you were having.
The rewards have gone downhill over the past year. Bill pay via PayPal, the #1 reason to use Fold for stacking, went away for a month before returning. Bitcoin buying has not been working since June 16th. It's just not worth the hassle any longer to me.
Great information
Thanks
I donāt buy sats from anyone
I do it the old fashioned way
Earn them
Iāll keep my eyes open on Fold going forward
Using it on everything
There was a lot of bad reviews out there
I havenāt had a problem
It takes longer to transfer funds
Well , longer than Iām used to
Thatās the only compliant Iāve got , but you plan ahead and itās not a problem
Got a Start 9 server using foldās gift cards and Jack Spirkoās discount
We are very happy with it
I cant use Strike either. Tried signing up twice, all I get is some msg that tells me nothing, no reason why. I had no trouble signing up with Cashapp, so thats who i use for quick buys. Strike has absolutely no customer support in my experience. They never told me why I cant sign up, and believe me it's not credit or funds related.
Whatās your thoughts on Swan?
