Really true. Have you heard Tristan Harrisโ discussion on his podcast your undivided attention about Tik Tok and how likes are an infinite commodity.
Tik tok can influence likes up and down by making slight tweaks to their algorithm in real time. As a result, if you say something that is in the best interest of the powers that be of the ccp and Tik tok your post will get more engagement.
Humans naturally do what gets them more engagement so they are unknowingly nudged into creating content that is in Tik toks best interest.

I've been meaning to learn about this, but even creating a lightning acct on Blue didn't really create a usable address... sent some zaps, created an invoice but it seems like there's a lot of need for custodians
I want to say, it's not required, just the verification process... but it seems like there are more benefits as depicted in the table for

Definitely. Imagine a new ad system that was based on zaps and likes where the marketers owned all the accounts. They would just zap and like accounts they own back and forth to create the illusion of interest on a whatever they wanted to promote.

Large accounts will typically say this. Small accounts may have very little engagement if it weren't for likes. Without likes we would have a flood of short 'yup'. 10 likes = 10 less yups in the flow.

Submitted with respect: zaps are not intuitive, are not ingrained in functionality of the (iPhone app for me) app, based in hope, and frankly are a terminology already smacking of in/out group. Likes are easy, ingrained, supported. I think out casting โlikesโ by those with a platform to lead may be elitist if this (nostr) is a ground roots effort.
