TEN31 PROVIDES GRANTS TO OPEN SOURCE CONTRIBUTORS AND PROVIDED AN EARLY DONATION TO OPENSATS.

EVERY PROFITABLE BITCOIN BUSINESS SHOULD HELP SUPPORT THE MAINTAINERS OF THE PROTOCOLS THEY RELY ON.

WHEN WILL MICROSTRATEGY, ARK, AND FIDELITY DO THE SAME?

100% AGREE ODELL, NOSTR IS NOTHING WITHOUT IT'S PEOPLE CONTRIBUTING.

contributing on what exactly ?

Oh, snap! Calling out the recipients of good code and care.

# Never

nostr:npub15dqlghlewk84wz3pkqqvzl2w2w36f97g89ljds8x6c094nlu02vqjllm5m when funding open source devs ? 🤨

He doesn’t owe open source devs anything.

Only his fortune and his company's future. But yeah other than that, nothing much.

# NEVER

I'll put up a bounty. If nostr:npub15dqlghlewk84wz3pkqqvzl2w2w36f97g89ljds8x6c094nlu02vqjllm5m starts funding open source devs. I'll get a T-shirt made with a beaver on it that says, "There is no second best."

imagine him saying tomorrow he'll pledge 50 BTC for LNbits development...

Now, that would be cool...

WHEN CO-OPTION BY TRAD-FI?!

Buying bitcoin is funding devs.

Everyone on nostr should post this same note

LOL, they’re invisible.

WILL THEY

👏

When they’ll be interested in that kind of PR…

Agree! 👍

Maintaining open source applications is a titanic job and requires financial support. And open source developers are heroes.

nostr:npub15dqlghlewk84wz3pkqqvzl2w2w36f97g89ljds8x6c094nlu02vqjllm5m

Microstrategy hired a full time bitcoin promoter guy. I think his name is Michael. He had to retire from his prior job to take up the pro-bono job.

AND THEN THEY WILL GIVE 'BONUSES' TO CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS TO EFFECT DESIRED OUTCOMES. BRIBES. THEN WE'RE BACK IN OLD TIMES. FUN! nostr:npub1qny3tkh0acurzla8x3zy4nhrjz5zd8l9sy9jys09umwng00manysew95gx SAYS HE WON'T ALLOW THAT BECAUSE HE AND HIS FRIENDS ARE SOMEHOW SPECIAL AND IMMUNE TO HUMAN NATURE. WHAT COULD GO WRONG?! LOL.

WE INTENTIONALLY BUILT OUR NINE PERSON BOARD SO FIVE PEOPLE WOULD HAVE TO BE COMPROMISED FOR THE ORG TO BE COMPROMISED.

YOU MAKE IT SEEM LIKE THE ALTERNATIVE IS BETTER. WHICH IS NO DEV SUPPORT. WHICH IS INSANE.

IF YOU THINK YOU CAN DO IT BETTER THAN OPENSATS THEN DO IT.

AS I SAID, WHAT COULD GO WRONG?! HOW ON EARTH COULD FIVE PEOPLE EVER COLLUDE? I'M SURE THAT'S NEVER HAPPENED. LOL.

Calm down, only 610dell has the monopoly on all caps. You need a loicence to all caps, mate.

Odell's all caps are gentle caps. Other people's all caps are aggressive af.

Preach! Preach!

Preach!! 🫡

Appreciate you saying this

Well stated, given they have so much invested in the network, shouldn’t they do everything they can to donate? I donate often to these organizations because the success of the network is helped by it!

Microstrategy and Saylor are donating / supporting in other important ways that help bitcoin adoption, like lobbying for better FASB accounting, supporting positive bitcoin policy and promoting mining interests.

Saylor also supports bitcoin educators and artists.

Not sure if he will donate to development as he’s carrying a lot in other ways.

Hopefully he follows Ten31’s lead though.

XD be addict to big money that will work.

Wonder why people want something to do w big money ?

Exchange of loyalty, from fiat boss to sats boss. People need tools

and stuff and pay for it. They dont need middlemen w magic money

coming from blood hands.

This agenda already give us a bump in fee/vbit similar to etherium.

Actually I’m thinking Saylor does a lot for Bitcoin. And the world. In a way he is the only one who spreads positivity and hope.

This..

I hate it when some of the bitcoiners spew negative rubbish about fellow bitcoiners.

Saylor does his part in a way that he can. I'm grateful to have him in our camp.

Maybe Saylor and others are already doing it but not publicly...

Saylor, ARK, and Fidelity have no desire to support Bitcoin development. They want Bitcoin to never change, so they can trade it in for CBDC tokens in 20 years.

Or they want developers to make something that they can leverage. They also want to run more nodes than plebs for UASF.

Yikes

Oof

Governments will get their hands on a lot of bitcoin, most likely purchased from the names above and others.

I appreciate nostr:npub13l3lyslfzyscrqg8saw4r09y70702s6r025hz52sajqrvdvf88zskh8xc2 point on this that governments don't save, they spend. If the private market demands bitcoin for payment rather than dollars, they will have no choice but to spend the bitcoin back into the economy, decentralizing it even further.

Hodl your own corn, but also reject dirty fiat as payment for your time and energy.

This is a positive message

It's not the govts who want to accumulate btc, it's the private central bankers, just like they accumulated most all of the gold and then created a paper gold market in which they manipulate and set the price. I submit that is the real reason for the ETFs.

Could you elaborate?

When you send me sats on nostr, it is going to my Alby wallet. I did not set up a lightning node, make an on-chain transaction, and connect to a bunch of peers. Alby is a custodial wallet. It is basically Venmo.

When the blocksize debate was settled, Bitcoin kept its 1MB blocksize for old nodes, and increased the blocksize to 4MB for new nodes. This allowed lightning, but as you can see, we are all using custodial wallets. Same in El Salvador. As more people adopt Bitcoin, self-custody Lightning will be unattainable.

There are many proposed soft forks that could help lightning (though never really fix many of its underlying problems), as well as give us better L2 solutions. But the suits do not want to change Bitcoin, and claim it is perfect the way it is.

If I were a government spook, and I wanted to stop a revolutionary money system that can replace my fiat scam, "NEVER CHANGE BITCOIN YOU EVIL SHITCOINER" is the perfect way.

who will support lightning routing node operators?

ppl are stupidly building on top of lightning when lightning network depends on ppl running nodes for a loss.

all lightning node operators will be broke within a couple years. nobody cares tho!

Would charging higher routing fees fix this?

It’s possible but extremely unlikely bc routing fees are insignificant compared to a badly timed force closure.

And if you raise fees too high you’ll just never route payments. A few ppl have success with higher fees but you have to be able to avoid force closures which I haven’t been able to do.

Very discouraging bc I want to love lightning but it’s not fun losing money. Bitcoin mining wouldn’t work if we expected the miners to work for a loss. That’s how layer 2 bitcoin works tho

Gm

Those companies you list aren’t interested in that. Their interest solely lies in fiat “gains”.

Heard enough from Saylor to know its a good thing that Microstrategy is just going to be a leecher.
