Yup. Yup. I'm making it official:

Nostrich range day, October 13th at the end of Scotia Shooting Range. Time TBD based on range opening. (Sundays are usually a delayed open to be polite to neighbors.)

40°46′21.54″N, 77°57′53.95″W

Bring your own guns. I'll bring some of mine. Never shot a gun? That's fine, too. I'll walk you through everything you need to be safe and have fun. I do have extra eye and ear protection, but, depending on how many people are coming, we'll need to figure that out.

Might this be the first nostrich range event? I hope so. That would be rad!

Full auto is nearly definitely a no, which does suck. Also, it would be nice to not involve any nosy local contabulary, even if it is legal/permitted.

Hmmm... Are there trains from Ithica to NYC?

It's a roundabout way, but, you could hop a ride to NYC then over to PA on the trains and then I can give you a ride.

I don't know if there would be any connectors to Philly. If there are, then that's more direct.

(I'm not in Philly, thank God, but, it is a major hub and pretty much everyone knows where it is.)

No, it's just a long drive is all. I was gonna suggest the Long Island Shooting Range or Calverton Shooting Range but I know that no one will drive out that far to meet someone (me) that they don't even know.

Yup. I hope this grows, since people from all over the world would be able to come and try shooting stuff to both see how fun it is and simply as an education tool. Everyone needs to know how to safely handle a firearm.

Yes, except that if enough people are interested, I have to go through the process to reserve the range and that needs to happen no less than 20 days out.

There's not enough marketing going on for nostr valley, so it's hard to get all eyeballs on Plebs and Pews stuff, and it's also impossible to figure out how many people are going to show up. 😅

How many people are going to nostr valley? Or is there no way to know that with certainty either?

In true decentralized fashion we have people signed up via multiple methods. It's probably somewhere around 40+ right now. But I've also had people tell me they're coming and they didn't register. So there's that. I'll get a more accurate count soon.

It's not a problem. It's just that it is slightly inconvenient for people like me who decide to do stuff on their own. 😅

Type @ then start typing their nym, select it and boom.

That's how it should work on most clients, anyway. If not, go to their profile and copy their npub then paste it after an @.
