I made a bot that reposts messages from a discord chat room to nostr. But yeah I wish we had discord like streaming in corny chat.

The most important part (to me) being the ability to run it on a PlayStation or steamdeck while I’m in game also using that audio

If you use the in game voice chat in certain games, players on opposing squads can hear and use it to target you. If you use a third party chat, you can maintain comms throughout

I think the hardest part of this is getting it actually approved as an app for the consoles. For Steam hardware it is no problem, but PS, Nintendo and Xbox app stores make Apple's store look downright benevolent to developers 😅

I have clients I have to resell Microsoft 365 OneDrive Teams bullshit to. I want so badly to be able to offer them a self hosted solution that's free and open source but the ecosystem just isn't mature enough yet. it may never be. this may stay niche tech used exclusively by cypherpunks forever.

self hostability is one of the hallmarks of nostr, bitcoin, and free and open software in general. discord is great but its just another walled garden without any of the traits that make nostr apps great.

I deleted the discord account however there is a discord server of nostr, led by the wizard

No voice chat stuff yet, it's more of the chat room sort of thing. Voice chat is coming, but I'm not super focused on the gaming use case. Pretty cool that discord can do that though
Yeah the reason why I use it is because it runs seamlessly on all consoles and we can use it as voice chat within a game and it’s probably a huge ask, but I would be so psyched if nostr got one

Yeah discord is pretty good for that. I would use it when playing d4: I was on Xbox and my friends were on pc and ps5. The app or app integration needs to be on all systems
