Nah, let's do this right from the beginning instead of sacrificing custody and decentralization for the sure of convenience.
Let's take things a little more slowly and onboard people the right way the first time!
There are perfectly reasonable tradeoffs to be made. You can be self sovereign & self custody 99% of your stack & still use a custodial service for easy to spend pocket change. And breez & other wallets may get the self custody model up to par in terms of convenience, at which point we don't even have to risk our pocket change, but it's better not to be super autistic about it.

You guys are taking an easy but very unkind stance. The entirety of #Nostr is like a weekend passion project for <10 people. When non-custodial ships it will still be "the beginning". Obviously everyone wants noncustodial now but have some compassion for God's sake.
Or, ya know, I'm standing against an echo chamber and pointing out a shortcoming that needs to be seen and avoided.
The same issue existed with KYC exchanges, where people were happy to jump on them and said they would use future DEXs and then got too comfy on KYC exchanges and never migrated.
I don't want that to happen again with custodial LN/Zaps current momentum.

It's called having standards and principles and properly educating. A lot of bad practices are being normalized and encouraged. I have no problem calling it out.
"Calling it out" implies the current course of things isn't sufficient. My stance is that it is. Let's push for and test noncustodial options as they come online. No reason to berate the devs.

What is that “right” way?
People learn in stages. You have to ‘hook’ the learner first and then teach them in steps. Personally I started with custodian on exchange, then I moved to self custody, then I moved to running my own node with sparrow. If you would have tried to teach me how to use sparrow and run my own node at the beginning, would have been a tough sell. It’s the same with lightning. I’ve got a good grasp of on chain privacy and how it all functions, but haven’t been fully immersed in the lightning world yet. I’m having a blast using WOS and am now even more motivated to get my lightning node up and running.
