I’m the opposite. I joined to get more bitcoin exposure and found my beekeeping tribe. It’s all good.
The individual needs to take personal repsonsibility for the content they are seeing instead of relying on the app to have a magic algo to recommend.
Get out there young men/women, the #nostrverse is constantly growing.
The content we see here is exactly what we asked for.
That person didn't know how to choose the content to be received and blamed the platform for it.
That was someone used to being served what to be consumed. Over here we sow and reap what we choose to.

That person lost two opportunities at once, bitcoin and nostr.
There is at least more substance on bluesky. I find a variety accounts dedicated to music, sports, vintage computing, and memes. Everything on nostr is largely bitcoin only. I don't give a fuck about 'stacking sats' or your garbage coffee.
Nostr complains twitter, x, whatever is an echo chamber, when in reality this place is the largest circlejerk of any social media.
There will only be positivity about bitcoin and bitcoin related topics because that in turn gets people to send sats in return.
This diminishes any type of future creativity because there is a precedent set that bitcoin is an eternal god you must follow to be welcomed and to be able to earn pennies.
There is plenty of criticism about bitcoin that should be outlined, but any room for that type of discussion, or even anything else will be ignored and as you scroll down your feed you will see more of the same e-begging for bitcoin with over 20 likes.
Nostr will fail as a mainstream social networking platform UNTIL it stops making bitcoin their personality.
The idea of nostr is amazing, but it gives me an absolute fucking headache hearing about bitcoin each time I open the app.

Onboarding on Nostr clients should have a “what are you interested in” section where you can choose hashtags to follow, and suggest top profiles in each section to follow. (Eg #artstr, #bitcoin, #runstr etc etc)
The “trending” feed should be based on your selected interests.

I joined Nostr and only saw people telling each other how great it was and why they should never leave it like a crazy ex.
The echo chamber gets old for me but I see the potential so I keep checking in and sending snarky messages like this one. 😁
Nostr is being talked about in the podcasting 2.0 community so that’s the main reason I’m even still using it because someone has to report back to HQ about what’s new over here.
Using #Bluesky / #Mastodon is still better than using #Twitter (X) / #Threads / any centralized service. Threads may join the broader #fediverse but not yet. Eventually we'll get to #decentralized super apps or super protocols with interoperability so that we can end this superiority discussions. Be kind and Rome wasn't built in a day. Cheers!
