May I ask how exactly OF works? Do you get organic traffic from the site or do you have to generate all your own traffic from marketing on other sites and socials? I’m curious what their SEO setup is. If they just leave the creators with no support

we have to market it all ourselves

OF’s fee is for like. hosting & payment processing only

No links or promotional material for users while on site? i.e. Check out so and so, most popular member of the day.

Seems so fiat to not support anything but demand a cut of the revenue

nope nothing ! i think fansly is the same

and. yeah thats what happens when someone decides that sex is too dirty to sell like. we’re left with a buncha people taking a cut for nothing or essentially nothing

If you are doing your own marketing, using bitcoin for payments, and hosting is cheap then why do you need OF? I don’t know their fee structure so maybe it’s less expensive but I wouldn’t think so. I always assumed OF worked because of traffic generation, like you can sell shoes online anywhere but the eyeballs are on eBay.

I think OF is the main selling platform because buyers are there specifically to buy so we're able to do our jobs somewhat efficiently. Whereas on other socials we're often fighting to exist alongside trying to sell, so we tend to try to balance socials and OF to get the best of both worlds

yes this !!

brand recognition by clients builds trust, lotta non-bitcoiners, site is already built. lotta my money comes from custom videos etc not subscriptions so just uploading is a bit different

OF takes a flat 20% fee

Ok so the eBay effect. Thank you all for the information. I was curious how it worked because I don’t recall ever seeing a ad or promotion online for individuals.

thank you for asking about it in good faith !! lotta people asking that question just assume we havent thought about that yet lol

Thank you for the candor. Excuse my nosyness, I’m just fascinated by various business models

Not to mention that having such a large site makes it more likely that customers would trust them with payment information than if a single worker had their own site.

People forget that the masses trust centralised services with payments much more readily than individuals.

There is also technical knowledge needed to run a site that some creators won’t be interested in handling

yep to both these things !!

Fansly does suggest others. I'm not sure the criteria, or if it's paid, but it is in the scroll

good to know thank you !!

There is internal marketing too with the suggestion box.. it’s just not very good

No internal traffic whatsoever, it wasn’t intended to be a site you use to build an audience

One of the big things for me with OF and fansly from the consumer side is knowing people there have been age verified.

yes this is very important

as a consumer what would you want to see from an individual creator to account for that?

like were i to make my own site for viewing and purchasing content, what could i include that would put you at ease that i am of age?

Some sort of 3rd party verifiable source. Like Yoti, but with codes that don't expire and a photo. Or hosting images on a 3rd party server that verifies you're over 18 that meets 18 USC 2257 record keeping requirements.

that makes a lot of sense. any suggestions on ways to do that? like what should i hit google with to find a 3rd party place. im gonna look into making my own site

I don’t know anything about age verification software but would recommend BTCPay Server if you plan on receiving some payments in bitcoin

thank you !!!

I tried seeing if I could find anything and all the solutions were for businesses verifying customers.

If you're hosting your own stuff make sure to have an 18 u.s.c. 2256 page.

Maybe add something like specific verification available via yoti on request?

Honestly if you have your own site probably no one would ask.

Questionable egirl selling her dropbox: def going to question

Person with their own decent looking site: Very unlikely to question.

*2257, not 2256.

a very good point on that last bit. those are all good suggestions thank you sm !!!!
