I never thought it, but I sure hoped it. The road to a bitcoin standard is probably going to be ugly. But I'm a GenXer and assume everything will be.

I thought somehow Bitcoin was going to run as a superior parallel system and it was going to be a slow but obvious transition.

It never occurred to me that to have mass adoption required a phase of legacy co-opted paper, leverage, and exploitation before rising like a spectacular Phoenix from the ashes of the obsolete dollar.

In hindsight, that does seem more fitting.

So I’m a total dumbass for thinking it could go even higher than this 😅

What specifically changed? Was it the metals spiking?

Change takes longer, but is permanent.

World destabilizing is greatly due to fiat existing in the first place, so even if Bitcoin wouldn’t exist, it would keep destabilizing.

Hopefully adoption is as smooth as possible, so that a growing part of the population slowly rebalances that destabilization, without unnecessary busts in the middle through empty promises and paper Bitcoin

We're all guilty of wishful thinking.

Hopefully Bitcoin gives the world a shorter dark times, i.e. the opting out of the current systems accelerates.

But unfortunately those in power (both political and kinetic) will probably stick to trying to use that power to keep us in the dark....

And maybe it's true that majority of us are incapable of learning new habits and it will be our descendents who can truly benefit from a fairer system and turn it around.

I think being honest with yourself is a healthy way to go about a new year. So I commend you for that and I agree with you too. I think my “epiphany” on this subject occurred a couple months ago when I saw how much the guberment(s) and big institutions were piling in. They’ll never let it get too volatile now, and they’ll never let it “get out of hand” at those higher levels - so speak. But then I look at a chart of the most expensive stonk I can think of (BRK.A) and say, “why can’t it at least get to those levels…”they” let BRK get there?” So I still have hope, but I’m caping that hope a lot lower now.
