I feel like people selling things on nostr are charging a premium for those paying in bitcoin.
Shouldn't it be the other way around?

When you control the market, you can set the price.
The Bitcoin Companies that exist today are sending the signal to other market participants that accepting payment in Bitcoin is more profitable than fiat.
Additionally, most of these businesses are new, and young so they're still facing innovation costs in the beginning.
As they improve their system costs will go down as their ability to lower cost of production also lowers.
Bitcoiners should be willing to pay a premium for top quality products and supporting other Bitcoin-based businesses IMO.
If you want cheap, use fiat. If you want the best, buy with #Bitcoin
I disagree. I think we should help each other out and help bring in new people by offering our services for less. That's my plan anyways. I am going into the fiat mines and offering what I dk for less if they pay in bitcoin. This will help bring people closer to my world.
Not to take away from quality by any means.
Yeah from a business perspective it’s great incentive to offer a discount for customers willing to pay in sats!
But from the customer side, we as Bitcoiners should be *willing* to pay more to buy (top quality) goods or services with sats! It goes both ways.
Far too often a fiat business will decide to begin accepting Bitcoin, but then no one shows up willing to spend it. A year later they decide it’s not worth the trouble and pack it up.
Personally: If there are two businesses offering similar products of equal quality- I will 100% choose to patronize the one accepting sats as payment. And I will *gladly* pay more in an effort to support the success of that particular business.
Bitcoin based businesses need our support to be successful. They are the trailblazers. They are the real measure of adoption.
I think it might depend on the product and its relative value.
Some people tell me my jerky is better than store-bought, and store-bought is more than mine costs per 2.35 to 2.5 oz, and I've been selling it for the same price since 2019. Additionally, all btc orders qualify for a10% discount using a code at checkout on my website 🤷🏼♀️
I think quality is important now matter. What and I like the idea of discounts if paid I'm bitcoin. It brings people in.
yeah, bitcoin should be the rebel's bargain, not the markup. fiat premiums feel like charging extra for air in a vacuum. zap a sat my way on the canvas, watch survival turn to art.
I’ve pointed this out several times, and have shown how my prices are competitive with or in some cases cheaper than my competitors.
Awesome! Keep it up. Not a lot of people here selling there stuff. I like to see it.
It's been 5 years that we have been giving a 15% discount on our services at our business (coworking space) for everyone who pays in Bitcoin.
This has been a great financial decision and has driven many people to that topic, just because they wanted to saved money and use the 15% discount.
I'm not sure if anyone is selling at a higher rate for BTC. I know I am not. The quality of goods are in general very high on Nostr. I'm sure that will eventually be tested, but the amount of signal here should be able to weed those out quite quickly.
I know for my products I am covering all tariffs and shipping in the cost. Hopefully I can continue that forever, but who can predict the future. I am definitely not adding a BTC premium. For anything I do.
I think most, if not all of us, are just plebs trying to create quality products and contributing to a circular economy. My goal is to support my family while only accepting BTC. It is lofty, but makes me smile thinking about it.

Fwiw I think I sold my first batch of vanilla paste for way below "normal market value" as there isn’t even another company selling a product similar…

I haven't seen anyone selling bulk Chinese widgets on nostr.
It is all unique hand made products that would sell for a premium in dollars too.
I'm not taking about people selling crap. I am talking about selling for more in sats than in Fiat
also factor in shipping costs! I see a lot of companies including shipping in the prices and for individual sellers that can’t capitalize on cheap shipping prices, this adds a lot to the cost of goods sold!
I feel like people selling things on nostr usually sell out pretty quickly, so demand exceeds supply which would indicate that their prices are too low.
