Early days of twitter people talked about twitter a lot.
True, back in 2007 when I joined Twitter we even had Twitter real life events about Twitter. A bit similar as now at #Nostriga. The big difference is we are talking about an open protocol and NIPs instead of a platform and APIs. But if you look even further back in time, the nineties with internet protocols such as email and http, there were mailinglists, IRC and so were we talked about open protocols. Unfortunately those open protocols are now mostly claimed by central parties.

Wedding Photography, where people who join Nostr can see the photos and pay for the ones they like the most.
Media coverage where photos, stories and videos are automatically uploaded to the globe, and people who appreciate the news can help pay for it immediately.
