I see more and more concierge doctors for this reason. Dealing with insurance is a huge pain in the ass for everyone involved. There is one in my area that charges $165/month and you can go im whenever and do anything short of surgery basically.

I have seen limited use of local co-ops (doctors/dentists and even pharmacies with subscription based services) — this is a much more realistic healthcare system than the DMV-style behemoth we have now.
