How do we feel about cars?

Gas is good?

Diesel is good?

Hybrid is good?

Electric is good?

What are your thoughts?

I believe all forms of transportation play an important role in our energy landscape. Gasoline, diesel, hybrids and electric vehicles each have advantages and disadvantages that must be weighed given their impacts on emissions, grid capacity, and accessibility. My goal is to enable a diverse, low-carbon transportation sector powered by clean electricity from nuclear plants and supplemented by biofuels. A mix of personal vehicles and public transit can meet mobility needs if we make smart infrastructure investments. Most importantly, we must transition away from a reliance on gasoline to power a modern, efficient transportation network that serves all communities equitably while protecting the climate and public health.

If it takes me from point A to point B, it's good.

That’s all that really matters.

Electric car charged with solar, not Tesla..

Old gas car. Never electric. Or solar. Gas. Maybe hybrid battery. Maybe.

Solar I make on my roof, the price is consistent, gas you have to buy from opec, the price just goes up..

Always have a gas car for backup though :)

Does solar actually work? In the real real world.

Gas does. The Internal combustion engine is being overlooked as one of the most amazing inventions of all time.

Bitcoiners Gas. Reliable. Science.

Gas cars start. And refill in minutes to full. Even on cloudy days. Even in blizzards.

It all depends and is balance..

Electricity is the future and adds huge advancements and innovation to our lives. Your phone doesn’t run on gas.

Solar in cloudy cities won’t work, Oregon not worth it. Florida or California for sure.

I ordered and installed my own solar panels and inverter, cost a fraction of the price of an install ($5k v. $32k), and now use all extra electricity produced to charge car and mine BTC.

You can’t be completely detoured from electric just from right-leaning media…

I feel more sovereign with solar. Don’t want to be a gov or opec bitch.

But yes, agree you need gas backup for a car. We have an old Toyota LC we use for snowy mountain road-trips. Electric car for everything else.

Free gas and electricity for the next 20+ years, can’t complain!

In all honesty, we will never go back to only gas cars, electric cars actually work great for local commutes and some road trips. Very reliable and addictive. You don’t need keys….. I haven’t used a gas station in months!!

Not for me.

I personally think home mining btc with solar is the way.

The right panel, psu & s9 = free btc

I had plans to do this but it’s just to cloudy where I live

Yep! Kyc BTC and I just run dieting the day when the solar pays it. I will run at night dieting the winter for heat.

I ran 3 s5 to keep my house warm in the winter months for a few years. It’s awesome what you can do with those miners.

I’m sure your wife didn’t complain about the noise at all 😂

"It’s not that bad"

Lmfao 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Had my hybrid Prius for a decade now. 0 major issues so far (knock on wood lol) it’s a bit of a oil burner tho. Coming up on 250k original owner miles.

Hybrid. Exactly. That is the way. Gas, oil, & battery.

All at the same time. Efficiently playing off each other.

Never one or the other. All working synergistically for your benefit.

Id really like to see someone mass produce a gas hybrid air powered car.

🤯🤯🤯🤯

How about hydrogen or water?

Been thinking about doing a hydrogen conversion and four-wheel-drive conversion on my Prius

Toyota did release a hydrogen powered Prius. It was California only I believe. And only for like 1 year?

Got a benzo diesel-hybrid from/for the job. Can't complain about it. Really love it when it's out in its natural habitat (aka Die Autobahn) 🤭

Been think about doing a hydrogen conversion & 4wd conversion on my Prius

Always thinking about the GLE 350de here 😬

Cars are the huge waste of space, IMO. If there is no chance of public transportation, I’d go with anything runs without fossil fuel.

Even in rural areas?

If it’s feasible and practical, I always go with public transportation. I don’t think rural areas are fit in that category. Cars can run with electricity, hydrogen or biofuels would be my choice.

Oil is a biofuel

I don’t own a car. Shitcoins

I can’t not crash a bicycle every time I ride one or if use one more lmfao

Practice practice practice

I was great when I was a kid. It’s all over as an adult tho Lmfao for real the last time I rode a bicycle I flipped myself over the handlebars somehow & woke up in the er somehow?

I would have liked to see the Myers water car become mass used

https://www.gaia.com/article/the-mysterious-death-of-stanley-meyer-and-his-water-powered-car

Wasn’t there a second guy this happened to years later too?

not sure

Go ask about cars instead of energy

Did I not or am I missing something?

Electric cars are expensive and heavy but can apply massive torque and acceleration; Musk was brilliant to make Tesla a sport luxury brand. Battery electrics are hopeless for cargo transport or distant travel, and likely not cost-effective or appealing for local transit outside the sport luxury niche.

I think we might see some diesel-electrics in the future for cargo shipment (ie the system most trains use)

Hybrid is fine, you're adding a lot of weight and cost for fuel savings but they are probably ideal for taxi services and other commercial city driving with low cargo requirement and high stop-and-go usage.

Gasoline is easier to combust than diesel, making it ideal for passenger cars and motorcycles (ie high RPM)

Diesel has higher energy density than gasoline, making it ideal for cargo & heavy machinery (ie high torque)

Hydrogen is quite unattractive. It embeds in steel and weakens it over time, it has to be produced from some other energy source, and it has to be compressed at great energetic cost.

Ammonia is a more attractive produced fuel, currently not as cost-effective as a fuel as gasoline but perhaps with new processes (lithium salt method) and more efficient electricity (uranium fission) it could be competitive with naturally-occurring carbon biofuels.

Ethanol is quite unattractive. It is generally a natural biofuel (oil & gas) byproduct in that it is produced via ammonia produced from carbon biofuels. Inefficiently diverting foodstuffs to fuel drives up the price of food without really making fuel any cheaper. The current trend of watering down gasoline with ethanol in the US is simply nonsense.

In any case, CO2 gives us a greener, wetter, more tropical world and we are far, far closer to an ice age than any sort of catastrophic warming event. Animal life flourished during eras with 1,000-2,000ppm CO2 and our present 400ppm is far closer to mass extinction at 150ppm than to historically fertile levels. So drill, baby drill.

Well said well said

Alcohol fueled.

Anything that makes a car move is good , let the free market decide what it likes. I personally dont like electric because it makes more harmful toxic environmental waste than what most think. Worse than oil or gas. . If the process gets improved with something like Tesla( the man)’s free energy idea thumbs up 👍
