PSA: pretty soon, NIP 04 DMs are going away, and will be replaced by NIP 24 DMs. The current version of Coracle's DMs can still be accessed at https://nip04.coracle.social, which I will link to from within the new version of Coracle as well.

TGF24
But for that to work would the receiver also need to use NIP-24?
Yep. I'm thinking about compatibility stuff. Maybe sending a NIP 04 that notifies the recipient that they have a NIP 24 message waiting for them. It'll be awkward, but it's gotta be done.
nice. It's about time.
Is that a different NIP-24 than what’s on the master branch? Doesn’t seem related to DMs.
It's a draft: https://github.com/nostr-protocol/nips/pull/686. Looks like our NIP number got ganked.

We're just waiting for NIP 44 encryption to get finalized.
The priesthood secretly hates protocol.
What's your protocol?
Oh, sorry, added a pronoun where there wasn't one. What do you mean?
I see. I think the "priesthood" agrees with you. NIPs are an effort to document accepted practices. Your participation is welcome.
This hasn't been my experience.
Not married to it but any sort of protocol seems unwanted. No request for change, just no.

And note the lack of a reply to a reasoned argument.

Anyway, I prefer competition to argument so thinking about creating a new protocol initiative.
nostr:npub1xtscya34g58tk0z605fvr788k263gsu6cy9x0mhnm87echrgufzsevkk5s how does gift wrap relate to the auth method you had in mind?
When login with Amber?
Better nsec bunker login first!
On Android?
Who is it that has nsec bunker?
Well, I think Amber will probably support the same protocol, but remote key storage seems best to me because it covers all platforms with a single key management app.
People are paying a lot of attention to what you've written.
