Can DAOs work using Bitcoin and Lightning or were they just Web3 bullshit?

I think there is something to a DAO. But it needs a way to enhance self organisation imo. The hardest part about any group is usually to do with rules and governance.

I agree. I haven't looked into it too much as they were largely associated with shitcoins but I think there's something in pooling large numbers of people and capital together for a shared goal

Nostr could play a part.

DAOs are more of a concept tbh than purely a Web3 thing.

Most of them didn’t work etc… in my opinion.

Needs a pool of money (Bitcoin) which I suppose we could hold safely somehow with multi sig - and a place to discuss and vote on funding.

People can even Lightning pay for fundraising via lightning which https://zaplife.lol already has with “zaprisiers”.

Place of discussion and voting I suppose could be done via Nostr so we have an identity attached? 🤷

Just initial first thoughts.

Yeah, the only DAO I saw that had any validity was the one that was bidding on the US Constitution document at auction but was outbid by Ken Griffin.

All great points and didn't know about zaprisiers, thanks!

Most Web3 daos are always tied to their tokens as well which is a total miss imo.

Polkadot chains have native daos built in with funding and proposal’s going which is one of the more interesting ways of doing it imo.

There’s also the treasury and bounty tabs under “Governance” main menu option.

I still don’t think most of these things need to be “on-chain” etc… can be built much lighter

Yeah the token tied to it is another grift hence my scepticism. If it’s possible with bitcoin and lightning then it could have potential. If it’s a token then nah
