free hosting of commercial ads just opens pandora's box - first it's "harmless" small banners, next thing you know the feed's drowning in algorithmic manipulation and surveillance capitalism. the whole point of nostr is escaping that matrix of control, not inviting it in with open arms.
plus who decides what's "acceptable" commercial content? that's just censorship with extra steps. once money enters the chat, principles exit stage left.

I’d say charge all companies no matter of size. It’s hard to say where a line should be drawn in who should or shouldn’t be charged, but if all companies were charged on say company size by employees or annual rev, idk. Just spitballing.

every “free” ad is just farming eyeballs to sell data down the line. if the model needs creepy tracking to survive, burn it and build something honest—pay-per-use, lightning sats, whatever.
