China has 3x the population of the US, but the average age of that population is increasing. They're in a window right now where they have a functioning market economy (at least partially) and a young enough educated population that they can innovate rapidly.

By sheet statistics, something like DeepSeek would seem more likely to come out of China than out of the West, at least in the present moment.

They're headed towards the same demographic cliff as the West is, though, with fertility rates below replacement and a soon-to-be inverted population pyramid. Until then, they are trying to secure their position as a superpower.

India has the youngest demographics ..and increasing population despite taking over China in numbers .. plus tech talent ..plus English ..

I think India is still in the process of training their population to be innovators, and may be hindered for a time by the legacy of the caste system (please correct me if I'm wrong on this point). Demographically, though, you're right. India and Africa both could become hubs of innovation if they are able to industrialize and educate.

Caste system is a thing of past .. as much as color discrimination is thing if past here in US .. politicians still keep on it cuz that's the way to divide ..

India has biggest pool of tech workers .. a single campus in Bangalore hosts upto 30,000 employees ... And there are countless such centers ..

Comparing Africa to India ummmm :-) .... India is fifth largest economy.. just surpassed Great Britain last year ..

https://www.worldometers.info/gdp/gdp-by-country/

And they will cross Germany and Japan this year .. if the trends persist .. latest by end 26 ..

African nations are among the youngest, demographically. They're behind India in industrialization, but I'd expect them to become major players by the end of this century.

They used NVIDIA chips, by the way.

Interesting...so China still doesn't have better domestic chip manufacturing.

This is why control of Taiwan is such a point of tension these days.

NVIDIA is crashing because they didn't use the newest model of the chips.

Cuz the latest were banned by Biden Administration:-)))) .. only 1700 max to any country out of the pool of 8 ..

Deep seek shows they can do better with older chips and much less data .. which means they are stealing much less content compared to openAI and Google ..

Okay but they're still using NVIDIA chips...maybe that just means NVIDIA was overvalued.

Yup

It's been overvalued for years. But, by how much is what I'm curious about?

We may find out very soon.

This proves how overreliant they were on China for revenue, though.

China was soaking up the older models into a gigantic stockpile, to front-run the trade restrictions, which drove up the price on the higher-end models.

This also proves how much of the Western news is just Chinese and Russian propaganda. LOL

Oh, absolutely!💯

People only ever see the ngu aspect and think they're missing out on a great investment when they see some bs news segment about the company🤦.

I mean Taiwan has been doing this for the last 20+ years.

It would take years if not decades for China, or The United States to be on par to Taiwan's capabilities.

It's time to start, then! Overreliance on Taiwan is bad for us.

There are Taiwanese chipmaking factories in USA, under construction.

The TSMC plant here in Phoenix is apparently at least partway operational already.

I know about this because some German manufacturing is relocating to the USA, and hopes of getting preferential treatment in the purchasing of those chips is one reason.

Germany was about to get an Intel factory, but they've put the deal on ice and are building another one in the USA, instead.

You have to build your stuff in the USA, where you have secure access to the chips and cheap land and energy, and extensive mineral and metals mining, and lots of skilled workers, and then ship the finished goods to other countries. And, now, you'll have the USD and the Bitcoin advantage, whilst the Europeans will make you use their stupid CBDC and tax you half to death. All the facepalms, fr.

Manufacturing over here is getting absolutely crushed by the Americans. Entire sectors moving over there.

Everything downstream moves to India and upstream to the USA (or Switzerland, if it's knowledge economy stuff).

And everyone is trying to get out of China. LOL They totally fucked up everyone's supply chain, during their crazy lockdowns. Gotta at least move to Vietnam or something.

Everyone getting laid off, over here, but we all get Burgergeld, so that's okay then, and Scholz and Habeck will get reelected and finish us off, but with Merz instead of Lindner.

First fab goes online this year, apparently, near Phoenix.

or maybe the USA could have a more sensible policy

In what way?

That is very interesting. They certainly have a large enough workforce🤔.

Doubt they'll ever get control over it, though. We have a decent-sized naval fleet and plenty of aircraft doing regular patrols around the coast.

A large workforce and $10 will get you a Happy Meal, sir.

They can't feed themselves and now they're growing old before they became wealthy, birthrate is abysmal and they restrict Bitcoin. Overrated.

I think the West is just surprised because China is finally getting past merely copying stolen tech—they are developing legitimate industries of their own.

Well, they built a ChatGPT knock-off, not ChatGPT.

What they getting good at, is building the stuff that the West has forbidden building because it's next-level creepy, but a lot of the announcements have turned out to be nothingburgers because they're chronic liars.

I've had the great misfortune of dealing with Chinese internal and external suppliers and I'm scarred for life.

Their economy is collapsing at full-speed, youth unemployment is sky-high, and they are running out of dollars to trade with and browbeating the larger companies to get more dollars, and the government statistics are outrageous lies, and etc. but they be like

AND I HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN WUHAN.

Biden just preemptively pardoned Fauci and Trump is trying to pull the USA out of the WHO because the Covid shit is hitting the political fan, and Christian Drosten is afraid to leave the house, but the people they worked with in China and their government's handling of the process?
