1. You need a wallet or node that lets to connect to itself via NWC, like Alby Hub, Coinos, Umbrel and others mentioned.

2. In this wallet/node you generate NWC Connection Secret, that you can scan with app wanting to use it (Alby Go, Primal, Amethyst, Alby Account).

3. You scan or paste the NWC Secret into Alby Go, so you can very quickly and easily use your node/wallet from 1. in your pocket.

+ It has some additional features like subaccounts, expiry dates, budgets, receive via Lightning Address and can be extended with many - but SEND and RECEIVE are the most essential ;)

Not really - Alby Go is just an interface for your lightning node/wallet that supports NWC like Alby Hub (can be installed on Umbrel or start9), coinos, Lifpay

Yeah I’m having trouble sending zaps in Primal still. Alby support has been great though!

To segregate funds you can use the isolated app feature inside Alby Hub

But you can also connect to LNbits using an Alby Account or NWC funding source!

Although I agree it is a bit confusing, it's also not rocket science when you understand the difference between browser extension and alby account.

Here's how you can configure your alby wallet in the new Alby Go:

1) Go to https://getalby.com/user

2) Click on "Connect" (upper handside)

3) Choose "NWC Connections"

4) Click on "Connect app"

5) Give the configuration a name, configure it and click on "Next"

6) Click on "QR Code", you will need this is in Alby Go

7) Open your Alby Go app

8) Scan the QR Code

9) Success

You can use nwc.getalby.com, but soon only Hub will support it, legacy accounts not

The way lightning works currently both sender and receiver have to be online.

so also Alby Hub needs to be online, the easiest is to run it on some device that is always on (or a cloud service)

if it’s offline or locked no payments can be made.
