Hey I've seen one meaningful use case for cameo first hand.
My wife's aunt was in the hospital dying of a turbo cancer, so we all threw in together to have some 80's singer that she loved make her a really sweet video message for her final birthday celebration.
She lit up when she watched it even though she was going through hell
