there is no wrong way to use bitcoin.

whenever people talk about Bitcoin Pizza Day, you'll always have people respond about how this was a blunder, how Laszlo wasted hundreds of millions of dollars on two pizzas. you'll have people respond that they should just HODL and not spend their bitcoin, if the value of bitcoin is going to continue to increase over time. while this is true, i do not personally agree with it.

bitcoin is a store of value and a medium of exchange. in fact, bitcoin is something different for nearly every person across the ecosystem.

Some people exchanged land for blankets… these were not bad exchanges at the time as one party had lots of land and no blankets, the other had blankets and wanted land… today it seems like a shit deal but maybe everyone was kosher with it then?

Use it, save it, lose it… all a valid :)

You have a painting of mine hanging on your wall that fully proves what you say 🫂🙏

Absolutely. I use a portion of my stack as money, because it is!

Well said. He paid like $25 at that time. It's like arguing that the dollar was worth more 20 years ago. Now it isn't.

Someone had to be first. If it wasn't him, it would have been someone else.

there is a similar case to be made 4 pineapple my friend

I really hate it when people dunk on Laszlo and his historic purchase. Bitcoin doesn't increase in value automatically. At some point, there's such a thing as having too many bitcoin

Absolutely. Someone had to be first. Someone always has to go first.

I wanted to contribute, but everyone has said what had to be said. 🤷

It's okay. This has been debated for a decade 🫂 What I've said has been said 1000 times already.

I'll admit it.

I'm pretty sure I also bought at least 2 pizzas in 2010.

I know. I know. I should've just mined the Bitcoin instead, and I should have hodled that Bitcoin through all the ups, downs, trials and tribulations to become rich in fiat terms today.

I'm an idiot. 🤦

Brother. You did fine. You did what you were supposed to do.

A lot of perspective has been lost since 2010, when these Bitcoins had never knowingly been exchanged for anything out in the real world.

Laszlo should be celebrated for being the pioneer that he was.

I think people - especially relative noobs - also forget how much foresight and conviction it took to hodl through the last 14 years.

It wasn't as easy to get Bitcoin in the early days. Then were doubts about it making it through the first Halving, then the Blocksize Wars, as well as many other "Bitcoin is dead" moments.

I'm pretty sure many of us have been in a position where life events cause us to sell up, which seemed like a good idea at the time because we really needed the cash. But it's easy in hindsight to say that was probably a mistake.

Hey. There are so many shoulda, woulda, coulda moments looking back. But life is a journey, it's got us here, and we're hopefully always learning from those 'mistakes'. The harshest lessons are often the ones in which we learned the most.

It is what it is. There is no going back, only forward with knowledge from the past.

I definitely have a few of my own "well if only I didn't do that" Moments with Bitcoin.

Pick any given stock: we all could have bought at just the right time, sold at just the right time. Each of us would be a billionaire if only we had taken enough of those missed opportunities.

Should we go around berating ourselves bc of all those lost opportunities? Because of our failures to read the tea leaves? Of course not.

#Bitcoin is a store of value for some.

#Bitcoin is a philosophy of free life for others.

#Bitcoin is a casino for many.

You just have to use bitcoin as we want and whenever we want.

Just Making Hodl to infinity is neither good, nor bad.

Let's celebrate also Jeremy Sturdivant for accepting btc as payment.

The bigger lesson is that you don't get to decide how other people use their Bitcoin.

If you want to save your Bitcoin for some future use that's ok.

If you want to peel a small future fortune off to buy a couple of pies that's cool too.

There's nothing more hypocritical than Bitcoiners telling other Bitcoiner's how to use their permissionless FU money.

GFY 🧡

Bitcoin wouldn't be where it is today without people willing to use the network and support the infrastructure. Laszlo paved the way for many to follow, this is not a blunder but bravery.
