I’m NOT going to make nostr:npub10qrssqjsydd38j8mv7h27dq0ynpns3djgu88mhr7cr2qcqrgyezspkxqj8 the #1 Bitcoin podcast in the world 😉

Is that correct? At least disclosing your goals to people exposes you to public failure. If you never tell anyone what you are aiming for you never take this risk.

I think opposite. Say it: then ride the pressure wave

This highly depends on your personality structure. If you’re a highly agreeable person this might work but for less agreeable people high in openness (aka. most Bitcoiners) this would do the exact opposite as might trigger reactance.

Maybe. I just think to not share objectives is almost as good as not having them unless you can be ruthlessly honest with yourself; which is possible short term and hard over a lifetime

This is true if you organize the world around you primarily in social terms. Not everyone does that though.

Nah... you can do both. While this can work, lone wolfing like this can be pretty fucking lonely.

Applying this to myself, my biggest lifting gains came when I was running with some pro bodybuilders. We set/shared goals and then held each other accountable. I feel like this was written by someone that has never stepped foot inside of a gym at the very least.

That's not the same thing as just making an announcement.

It all started with the announcement.

I’d say it depends on the goal. Lifting and being healthy is a small goal that’s easy for others to support. Big goals should be kept secret and only revealed upon completion.

I think it also depends on who you tell. Inner circle, yeah. Every business acquaintance? Nah

Instead have a solid seretonin baseline #biopsycho

What is a seretonin baseline how does it help manage dopamine swings

A serotonin baseline refers to the stable, consistent level of serotonin in your brain over time. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that plays a key role in mood regulation, sleep, and overall well-being. Having a healthy serotonin baseline means your mood and emotional state are relatively stable, which can help buffer against drastic fluctuations in dopamine levels.

Dopamine is another neurotransmitter, primarily associated with pleasure, reward, and motivation. Dopamine swings occur when dopamine levels rise and fall rapidly, often due to engaging in highly stimulating activities like consuming certain foods, using social media, or other behaviors that trigger the brain's reward system.

When your serotonin baseline is stable:

1. **Mood Stability**: A stable serotonin baseline can help maintain emotional balance, making you less susceptible to the highs and lows associated with dopamine spikes and crashes.

2. **Resilience to Stress**: Serotonin contributes to resilience against stress, reducing the likelihood that stressors will cause dopamine-related cravings or impulsive behaviors.

3. **Better Self-Control**: With a stable serotonin level, you're more likely to have better self-control, which can help you manage behaviors that lead to dopamine swings, such as binge-eating or excessive social media use.

4. **Enhanced Focus**: By maintaining emotional and mental stability, a healthy serotonin baseline supports sustained focus and attention, which can help reduce the need for dopamine-driven rewards that distract from long-term goals.

In summary, managing and maintaining a healthy serotonin baseline helps regulate mood and emotional stability, which in turn can help you manage and mitigate the effects of dopamine swings. This balance is crucial for long-term mental health and well-being.

Reminds me of J. Cole’s too deep for the intro, “if they don’t know your dreams they can’t shoot em down”

This is my new goal. Wait.. dammit.

I think this might be true for most Bitcoiners

Couldn't agree more

This is good advice for me right now!

🤔💯

🫡

For me sharing my goals means I am now obligated to reach them to avoid shame and losing face.

It worked out for me

This is wisdom

Agreed--focus on established facts, not future faking.

Love this

This is really terrible advice. 😂

Whoever wrote this must be autism-maxxing.

Yeah, like most advice, it tends to really be tailored to the giver and their needs. Different people require different things to be successful in reaching their goals. My personal belief is there is a lot more to be gained by sharing goals with people than holding them all close to your chest. A good middle ground could be to share your short term goals, guard your long term goals, until they become short term. And you can pick who you want to share with. There’s no law that sharing means you have to share with the whole world.

If sharing a goal puts you off your goal because the tiniest domaine hit from sharing it obliterates the will to take the first step in achieving it. Was it even really your goal to begin with?

Yes and No. I agree that people can get a false dopamine hit from sharing goals and never make progress towards that goal. On the other hand, some people need a little accountability. If they share a goal with someone(s) who will keep them accountable and ask them, "how are you doing towards your goal?" it can help a person stay on track. Some people will keep working towards their goal better if they are worried about disappointing those around them.

I guess it all depends on who you tell and what your purpose for telling is.
