There are no algo's. Depends a lot on the client that you are using. If the client wants to show replies you will see... The replies may be a setting or at a button that needs to be clicked..

Part of that’s because we have 2 tabs for comments and top posts and people get tired or comment frequency so they hang out in top posts tab.

The solution is to show the comment being replied to so you have context for the reply: then you can limit number of seen replies from one person:

It depends on who you are. For someone with many followers, top level notes will get more eyes for the reasons stated. For the majority of people, their replies to popular accounts will get more engagement.

But quality replies to big accounts are key if you want to grow your reach.
