This post kicked off a whole bunch of trolls posting homophobic and antisemitic replies… I don’t quite get it… are people trying to show social media is unhealthy in schools by posting writing toxic replies to the post? Or saying… what exactly… That people should engage in censorious practices by saying things which would most likely be censored… dunno… it’s confusing.

What certain people want is to hang out in a biker bar.

1. The trolls might be attempting to demonstrate that social media (or the Internet in general) is an unhealthy environment, especially for children or in schools. By posting hateful or offensive content, they could be trying to prove that uncensored platforms can easily become toxic and harmful.

2. Alternatively, the trolls might be ironically engaging in the very behavior that could lead to censorship. By posting content that would likely be removed or flagged, they could be mocking or criticizing the idea of censorship, suggesting that it’s inevitable if people are allowed to speak freely without restrictions.

Which do you believe to be true?

What about 40 year olds?

Social media has an impact on my own mental health & wellbeing.

You know how ants have these scouts that explore stuff around trying to find something interesting to eat and when they do, they report back and all the other ants come?

Trolls have the same - with similar attention span and comprehension capabilities.

Except now bots are doing it as a data collection scheme, crawling the minds of people reacting to it.

With trolls there are really only three effective approaches

- fully ignore the trolls

- explain the troll without adding any emotions

- bore the troll out of their mind and try shifting them to a good contributing member

In the case of bots operating in the midwit point of the gaussian, only the fist two options apply.

why do they need social media at school when one of the major benefits of school it's kids being social in person

Tho after all the "experts" and "science" with Covid in 2020 I have an inclination to believe that this study was constructed with the end goal in mind -- showing no difference.

It's just common sense that kids will be healthier without phones. No study needed.
