why are dreams so much more vibrant and intense when consuming melatonin?
Discussion
rem sleep is dream sleep
in terms of sleep quality, is it good to have that intense rem sleep?
Deeper sleep?
Fortified sleep juice?
Enriched dream minerals?
hmm, would love to watch a documentary about sleeping
It would be boring. They'd just lay there.
one of those laid-back movies?
Netflix and zzzzzzzzz......

π₯Ή thank you so much, thatβs really kind of you
letβs see, iβve postponed the idea of it in my head, knowing that i still have so much self-improvement to do before iβd be more ready to become a healthy and loving dad
also i love the moon costume so much πππ
Haha you've got the right mindset. Kids will ground you and force you to adapt and in turn self improve. No one is ever truly ready.
Just make sure you snag that moon costume first. Bet those are high demand. Lol

not sure but I imagine you increase your REM sleep which is known for resulting in vivid dreams
Hmm, yeah, was also curious if thatβd be more tiring or resting in terms of sleep quality
i donβt think there is any type of sleep that is better than other. I think or body need REM sleep, deep sleep & light sleep in order to maintain your health and wellbeing.
This can vary from person to person I think
which again is connected to deep sleep. So if you take melatonin that means you are experiencing more episode of deep sleep
Apparently thereβs no evidence that melatonin itself makes dreams more vibrant or intense. It is a hormone naturally produced by the body. It could just be that youβre sleeping deeper and spending more time in REM state. My personal experience is that I have very intense dreams when I take melatonin and they will get more intense each night in a row I take it. So I never take it more than 3 nights in a row.
Yeah, good point
I only use it in extreme cases, and mostly just to nudge my sleeping schedule a bit
When I take it I add in other things to improve my sleep hygiene. Like I donβt look at devices after I take it, at most I read a physical book. I get up early and expose myself to natural light first thing. I normally either completely cut out caffeine and alcohol or minimize it as much as possible as both can be disruptive to sleep. Open to any other ideas too. Especially in regard to using melatonin to help shorten jet lag.
When I use it to compensate for jet lag, I find it works best I limit my attempted shift to about 3β4 hours at a time. So, attack a trans-Atlantic trip in two sleeps, for example. Iβve got no science to back that up, just trial and error.
