how do y'all feel about remote work?
don't think i have it in me to get used to it, like to have a separate environment for working.
but it does save tons of time and money on commute and food

Bruh I work in my pyjamas, blast music all day, and take as many breaks as I want.
I could never go back to office work unless I was paid C-level salary lol
WFH is lyfe
there are different levels of salary? curious how they are categorised
i guess it really depends on the work that you do also, i can image software dev to be much more fun when you get to do it in the space you are the most comfortable with
been working remotely for almost 10 years now and couldn't be happier. i have an environment at home i use just for working.
i think for me the mental switch between home and work is rather difficult
also i tend to like the social aspect of work. maybe a hybrid version is for me
do you have a separate office that you use and only keep it for work?
I have the optionality for hybrid and almost never work from home. Although the days I do are VERY appreciated.
Overrated. I prefer having an office to go to, but my current job is 100% remote. What can you do
what makes it overrated in your opinion?
Nah, I adore working from home. Prefer being around my family than some jackasses any day.
makes sense when you dislike your coworkers and have a family
I prefer to be fully virtual, but I show my face about twice a week, mostly based on who I’m meeting. At my current company I do it by choice.
At my previous company, after COVID we were forced to go to the office 3 days a week. It was a global company so i ended up going to the office to be on virtual calls for 7-8hrs a day! That’s just silly!
Exactly. Been there.. It’s ridiculous. I guess the only redeeming thing about being in the office are the 2-hour luncheons and constant procrastination.
yeah
the superiors tend to be way more critical about results regarding WFH, just because they can't see you
might be a trust and verifiability thing
Actually, it’s quite the opposite. Working from home tends to increase productivity, as it offers a more enjoyable environment and fewer distractions compared to the office. Since transitioning to remote work, I’ve found myself significantly more focused and efficient, with the added benefit of reduced micromanagement.
Depends on the person, home and work environment, I find it to be the opposite for me
Tend to agree but I never worked remote. ALWAYS ate food I bought with me to work. Saved a TON of money and of course it was much better quality.✌️
i think it also forces me to go out more too and walk more, as i tend to be the sort of person that'd rather stay in
I like it as an option, more flexibility is always helpful. That said it's not for me. Ineed that mental switch from home and work, plus I find everything at home is distracting which makes things harder.
Yeah, exactly the same here buddy
Impossible for me as I do physical work.
Remote work has its downside for sure. I believe it depends on the employer industry.
Have done it for over a decade. 💁♂️
It's not for procrastinators; you generally want to get things out the door ASAP. The hours are weird AF if you're geographically opposed to your employer, but if you can get used to irregular hours it's pretty awesome. 🤷♂️
Highly recommend everyone try it at least once. 🤙
I love it it. Getting paid to play video games all day in my PJs is fantastic!
Not speaking from experience here but I think id prefer a hybrid model. Working in a building a few times a week, home the few other days. Never feel like you're stuck anywhere.
I miss it dearly and want to get a remote job asap
I like it but there are upsides of the office. its nice to take a break and shoot the shit with a coworker and brainstorm. its not the same using something like teams.
If you don't like WFH I suspect you are high extroversion or haven't figured out your routine yet.
Offices are terrible environments for "deep work" with constant interruptions both personal and in the background noise.
WFH doesn't need to be work, but at home. Get your work done, but design your space and work environment around you instead of the same cubicle as everyone else.
All of home life is available to you on your breaks which makes them much more refreshing than bullshitting 2 cubicles over. Today I went outside to shoot at a groundhog in my garden on a break, try that at an office.
