I made the connection a few months ago that the OP_RETURN drama could *perhaps* be a reason for *some* of the selling pressure we've seen.

I was laughed at on twitter for even suggesting the possibility of this.

But now a few months later I've heard this discussed, mostly dismissive, but still discussed, on many podcasts.

Is it that unlikely?

Not impossible at all

People are always looking for ā€œa reasonā€ why there is a pump and why there is a dump. Always conjecture.

Well, there always is a reason, or better, many reasons.

I agree attributing the full market picture for any single reason is silly, and yes, this is conjucture.

But even if it is conjecture, it doesn't mean it's wrong, or uninteresting (imo).

Many reasons are why markets move. Could be thousands of reasons for significant sell or buy pressure in a global market. I accept that.

I don't get why OGs like Max Keiser, Arthur Hayes or Saylor or Jack Maller and Dorsey are not vocal about this???

This shitcoinning can destroy bitcoin. We're not in 2017, pension funds have bitcoin. This can totally wreck bitcoin 's credibility

Providing oxygen to this nonsense doesn’t help. If they come out and say luke is being a little bitch they get called shitcoiners or spooks if they come out and say they don’t like spam but there is literally nothing we can do about it they get call csam enablers. They clearly don’t agree with like because otherwise they would come out in force. It’s a lose lose situation.

Bitcoin is useless if it becomes a spam database.

It’s a terrible way to store data so I dont think you have to worry about that.

Not really.

For certain purposes it would be a very cheap and effective way of storing data on an immutable database thats gonna last forever.

It’s self limiting isn’t it. The only reason it feels cheap is that the blocks are empty. The cost could quadruple tomorrow. The Bitcoin you spend today on storage of a retarded JPEGs could by a house in 10 years

It was always possible. You just would not have seen it as a single transaction. Stop being a baby.

By and large, when people sell, they sell because something personal is happening in their life that necessitates a sale. Ask yourself, have you ever sold anything because of a twitter dispute?

Well, a lot of people are genuinely discontent
