Apologies for lack of op return war 2 content on here.
Happy to start something off here if anyone has questions.

Thanks for the video explanation, it helped a lot.
Maybe just a tl:dr for those of us who don't follow any of the discussion? Just see memes and various anecdotes
I appreciated your video from the other day and switched over to knots, thank you for that!
Second that
TLDR:
This change treats bitcoin like free cloud storage for any kind of data rather than as money.
And does that make running a node more difficult or costly for plebs like me?
What do you think the bigger agenda of this change is?
There is a lot of nuance around how it makes node running more difficult but ultimately yes it does.
It also creates more competition for block space if people are using it for non monetary purposes, pushing up transactions fees.
There are companies interested in shitcoining on the bitcoin network and will likely get paid in fiat to facilitate it.
There also seems to be a cohort of well intentioned Bitcoiners lapping up the FUD around spam filtration. The idea that it either doesn't work or is censorship doesn't stand up to scrutiny.
As a layman Bitcoiner, I don’t know if it’s just hysteria or a real issue? I know I don’t like the idea of change unless absolutely necessary though
good overview here https://www.fountain.fm/episode/zbXnveqNy4RSnIUSwcso
The idea just needs to be abandoned.
The rationale for forcing it through is self contradictory. (i.e "the filter doesn't do anything anyway - get rid of it" VS "it's making something bad happen so we need to get rid of it".)
will spammers be more attracted to use Layer 2 protocols that allow higher bandwidth in the long run anyway? i.e. why allow it now when L2 protocols are going to become more prevalent?
Just take this meme and troll twitter.

A simple question 🙋 how serious is this in your mind to Bitcoin? Because I feel like, you feel it is way more serious than others do.
Massive OP RETURNs in blocks happening very often is a slap in the face to node runners. It's both a symbolic deviation of Bitcoin as money and a genuine detriment to their experience having to outcompete spammers to transact whilst being told they are forced to relay this trash around the network once Core remove ability for users to control yet another mempool policies.
Everything about it stinks before you even get to the part where they're forcing it through and "moderating" the github - according to policy just apparently never enforced until now.
The reality is loads of people hate what they're trying to do and - while I've cited malice/compromise among Core it really just seems like hubris more than anything.
Op return war 2 seems like it's downstream of the mining centralisation issue, or at least facilitated by it.
Am I correct in thinking that we will also need miners to switch to knots to limit spam getting into blocks? Even if knots nodes became the majority and weren't relaying spam around the network, miners would still be writing it into blocks if their mempool configuration accepted these transactions?
My question is how do we do more (than ocean has already done) to turn hashers into miners again?
Running Knots now. As are most people I know. The spam debate is barely a debate for me. Bitcoin doesn’t need that kind of a remix. We move.
nah the more the better
some folks #nostronly so only see what gets posted here
knots wasn't propogating whirlpool coinjoins back in the day, is running knots really the answer?
are you back on github?
We got the idea but intelligent content is always welcome.
Matt Kratter is helping a lot too.

Nice video discussing nodes and being open in discussion mate! I watched the video today! Appreciate the insight on what is happening.
Earlier this year, I fell victim to a devastating cryptocurrency scam that cost me $79,000 worth of Dogecoin (DOGE). I met a scammer through a Telegram investment group—a woman named “Clara” who posed as an experienced crypto broker. She shared impressive-looking client testimonials and promised a 35% return in just seven days. Her website looked professional, and despite my initial doubts, I eventually transferred 500,000 DOGE, worth about $79,000 at the time.
For the first week, everything looked fine—the trading platform showed my balance growing steadily. But when I tried to withdraw my funds, I was told I needed to pay a $12,000 “withdrawal fee.” Clara reassured me this was standard and fully refundable, so I paid it. Unfortunately, that was just the beginning. More unexpected charges followed: a tax clearance fee, a network fee, a security deposit. Before I knew it, I had lost an additional $8,000.
I was crushed—emotionally and financially. My savings were gone, and I blamed myself for ignoring the red flags. A friend eventually suggested I reach out to JBEE SPY TEAM RECOVERY, a company known for helping scam victims recover stolen cryptocurrency.
Although I was skeptical, I was also desperate. I contacted them and provided every detail I could: wallet addresses, transaction history, chat logs—everything. Their team got to work right away. Using advanced blockchain tracking techniques, they traced the stolen DOGE, identified the scammer’s wallet, and worked with relevant authorities to freeze the funds before they were moved any further.
Throughout the process, they kept me informed and reassured. After days of relentles
s effort, JBEE SYP TEAM RECOVERY successfully recovered the majority of my stolen Dogecoin. Their professionalism, expertise, and transparency turned what felt like a hopeless situation into a story of redemption.

Just want to say a big Thank You for what you’re doing, fighting for🙏🏿
Glad to have you in the space 🫡
Just listened to your interview on Bitcoin Not Crypto. Thanks for the explanation. I, for one, need long form discussions and not short tweets to make any sense of this stuff. Moving to Knots now.
