I found a local architect on this island.

And I found a local supplier.

We worked together.

I invested capital…

and now I’m holding the first concept on paper.

I’m deliberately time traveling into the future…

in physical form, on real land with real builders.

Options are nice. Daily vs. weekly rates? Looks like food and entertainment are part of your plans? Healthy ₿itcoiner stuff I’d assume. You could name the different houses and common places with bitcoin themes. Stay at the house of Finney, walk the Silk Road to the HFSPour bar, swim in the memepool etc.

I think it would be good if people could come for a vacation and then have the opportunity to stay longer and help build things up if it suits them. In the long term, this would allow a community to develop and the existing skills would increase. How many people can realistically live there? In my opinion, it would be more likely that people would then buy in. Perhaps it could be combined and land left free for this purpose.

It's really interesting how many things are coming together at the moment. We traveled to northern Europe together over Christmas and are talking about Cyprus and your notes on the subject. He is continuing with the process and has been to Northern Cyprus several times in recent weeks to look at real estate. I need to look at the legal advice later. Awesome. You really need to be aware of the real estate situation in northern. It’s not clear who owns what. Every taxi driver can sell you a property. A lot of scam. Official registration etc. But it’s an immense opportunity for sure

2. Grazing animals

3. Fresh water (a lake or stream).

Main friction I see is coordination over time:

how to keep it open and human-scale without drifting into a gated lifestyle project.

This had been tried many times before. And I would say most have failed. Ecovillages, Intentional community's, and commun. They are difficult because human are difficult and ever changing. I live on one at this moment, as a renter. In someway it failed and some ways it's successful. Wish you luck.👍

-Reedbeds or similar for greywater treatment. Then feed into short rotation coppice willow. This will clean the greywater plus produce a useful material for weaving, baskets, firewood etc.

-pick a niche - couples, or families, or retirees....hard to mix introverts with a family of 6 kids.

-make your rules/guides and stick to them.

Another thing: a buy back clause. Maybe link it to inflation/wear and tear. Not market forces. Then folks understand it is a home and not an investment. So it gets sold back to the company/you. Then you can vet who buys into the community. Some retirement villages do this.

Im not sure how it works in the US.

But in canada you're aloud to use crown land anywhere you want for up to 30 days provided you don't build a permanent building. The you can literally move 50 feet and set up shop again.

😂 thats not an option. I actually have equity in valentina estates which is a gated tiny house business in the US. It‘s working really good. In fact, over the last 4 years this business even beated bitcoin.

Anyway, I‘ll need a permit for the tiny houses and official registration.

This will take challenges, time, energy & capital. Chances to success are low because its in a nature park.

But…but…if I am successful…

Ill build something this planet had not seen yet. Thats the upside potential.

This is what I’d like in a vacay rental:

- go for 4 days

- be around walking paths and access to the water

- house is small and cozy

- food is fresh

- animals around

- surroundings promote socialization

Random thoughts:

Another vote for compost toilets. Not having to locate/plan septic gives a lot of freedom. We've used only compost toilets for several years now and I wouldn't go back.

There's something particularly beautiful about houses clustered relatively close but then open land radiating out from that cluster. I think that there are probably a lot of examples of this throughout history. Makes social connections and defense easier.

Unless you have a culturally homogenous group, it can be very difficult to agree on aesthetics and building plans!

I would spend a lot of time looking at how human groups have created their spaces historically. A Pattern Language is a terrific book. Well worth a read as you continue your planning.
