Tis the season for canning. 1 crate if tomatoes turned into 17 quarts of homemade spaghetti sauce. Just add meat and tomato paste 🤌🏼

Hit me up if you want the recipe. I feel like this has become a bit of a lost art. I’ll keep posting my preserving projects as I go if people like it. #foodstr

My mom makes tomato jam every year - it's great! Not what you would expect at all. I could get the recipe, if interested.

Post it, I have a ton of tomatoes to process. My first post BTW...

Followed.

Tomato jam/marmelade is awesome. I got it once and looked at it in disbelief 😅 But on the waffle it's the best😍

Nice! What else do you can? We tried chicken, pork, pickles, and jams. I’ve never tried pasta sauce.

This year we did green beans, peaches, apple sauce, beef bone broth, beef tallow and spaghetti sauce. Plan to do sweet potatoes as well

Did you render your own tallow? Never thought of doing that, but that’s a great idea.

I do. When butchers process a beef, they usually throw the fat away. You can buy a ton off of it super cheap and render it yourself. It’s so much better for cooking than oil

I’m sold. I’ll be trying some of that this month.
