I think this highlights what social media has truly become for a lot of people; entertainment.
If it was about connecting with friends, the "Following" feeds would be all we need, but the "FYP" dominates.

I don't think so. It's just a question of people not being interested in bitcoin, but when then check out Nostr bitcoin is absolutely unavoidable. If you don't find bitcoin, bitcoin will find you. There's no escape.

Yeah I get what you're saying but I think it still ties back to what people expect in a social network nowadays, which is near-immediate satisfaction upon arrival.
Agreed it's impossible to avoid btc convos regardless though, which makes switching to nostr hard and retention even harder
Yup, feels like if other communities are to take root it'll have to be in a space where they are fully insulated from the hyperbitcoin community here, as in a technical barrier. Maybe even a soft fork.
All the bitcoin talk on Nostr is a turn off. I try to keep my following feed to what I want to see, and so far it's tolerable.
I onboarded my mom, grandma, boyfriend, friends that paint, knitt, photograph, juggle, slackline. I also gave all of them some sats so they can zap so now they are bitcoiners or what 😂
How active are they now is the question.
More active than on Bitcoin network 😂 and made more posts about their trade than about Bitcoin - active enough to make my point :)
