Almost all the chatter on crypto twitter is about meme coins now.

Basically the narratives ran out and reached their final, most transparent form.

It’s literally all a joke

I think "AI" is the other shit, which is a pure fiat scam

Why do you think that? AI is clearly a useful tech and has already proven itseld to be useful. Now, if you are looking at it as an investment play I'd advise against since it will probably pop like a dotcom bubble. But as a tech it is legit.

i am a moderately qualified computer scientist and i know almost in detail exactly how these things work, the proximity hashes, the neural networks, the semantic graphs

but tehy are selling it like it's going to replace people

i'm not a luddite, i know it has its uses but they are far less than what is being hyped in the media these days

also, since i am a programmer, i know that my job is in no danger of being hardly even touched... the most useful thing GPTs can do is help you generate code, at this point, and that's not really that big a deal when i can write code generators in only a few hours more time than what it takes to clean up what mess the GPT makes with the code generation anyway

so, yeah, it's just affinity scamming, just like how it works with the hordes of bitcoin anchor shit like ordinals and liquid and drivechains, the basis of their value proposition is false, just like saying AIs can replace humans is false

they can greatly amplify the productivity of some people, and that disrupts the labor market but they don't replace humans, they leverage humans better

Yeah, I'm also a dev, though in a different field, so I do understand what you are saying. And yes, this has also been my experience with AI so far. Useful tech, but definitely not worth trillions of dollars pumped into it.

the CEOs and marketing people don't listen to us, so the rollercoaster ride continues to the blow off

In general or AI coins?

Both.

oh, i didn't know whole shitcoin scams were pivoting on this shit now, color me surprised

also, the only "use" so far i'm seeing with AI is improving the ability of propagandists to manipulate people's minds

Oh, okay. I think there are plenty of use cases for AI. It’s a tool and its effectiveness depends on the person using it.

I, too, think the AI bullshit is scammy af. The whole narrative. Congrats on your slightly more sophisticated search engine.

Well, you can always avoid "recommended" posts and only read your subscriptions.

This is what I do and I get your posts among other people I follow 🙂

Memes rule the world, cope.

Sure if the world is full of shipple that certainly the case. But all people with half the brain avoid that trash 😋

Give them time, they'll burn themselves out…

Amazing how quickly they forgot about Web 3.0, DeFi, NFTs, Ultrasound Money...and all the other made-up nonsense.

Wonder if it has anything to do with a meme coin fan owning the platform…

Quantum computing will destroy Bitcoin, here’s 5 alt coins to buy now that have the potential to make 7,889% gains before Bitcoin goes to zero…….

Shitcoin use case narratives largely abandoned this cycle.

There’s a complete disconnection between what people worked for their lives and what results they are getting, so gambling seems like an obvious choice! It’s no wonder that lotteries, number lottos and gambling are huge in developing countries! People see it as the only way out of slavery! The so called developed countries are now tasting the same! The World Order will never be the same again!

They all learn over time and will find their way back to the hardest money, or at least we can hope. It’s always the same, ICOs in 2017, Luna in 2021, meme coins in 2025, rinse and repeat

And at Saylor’s party. Prime position on BTC Mag’s live coverage.

Glad I left

Why do people need memecoins?

We have MSTR for gambling and it's much better.

Idk what this means

Hawk Tawh was the crescendo

She never claimed it to be otherwise ;-).

Looking at quantum entanglement, I think the whole world is a meme

I’ve actually been seeing most of the chatter around AI agents. Any thoughts on that?

This is only the first wave. After the next Bitcoin pump and eventual blow-off-top, the real degeneracy begins.

each person trying to rug the next person must be exhausting.

I've seen a few variation of "Nobody is trying to fix the problems we have in this country. Everyone is trying to make enough money so the problems don’t apply to them anymore."

Swap "country" for "world" and it's spot on.

Radix mallorum est cupiditas.

The Bitcoiners left Twitter (X) in 2024

I’m pretty new to the bitcoin world. Met with a crypto veteran/expert a couple of weeks ago to triangulate on what I might not be seeing. I was shocked at how blatantly scammy his worldview is. It’s like the flip side of the bitcoin honesty ethos.

There is bitcoin and then there are shitcoins

True. And there’s always a new batch of get-rich-quick suckers.

The best visual representation of there is no second best.

I really don't miss Twitter.

Memes are somewhat bullish BTC imho. It’s either the store of value or gambling/menss.

All the other altcoins are getting demasked by this.

This is the correct response

Isn’t this a top signal ? At least a local one.

Good grief... this alt-season might suck as much as all the others. ;)

They will learn too...

My fear is bitcoin is not much different. We celebrate16 years tomorrow and the discussions of bitcoin have become rather stale. The minds behind bitcoin are still stuck in abstraction. Do you think we’re ready to quantify the energy bitcoin and ditch the fiat price?

That's why we spend more time discussing life. Bitcoin is a tool that has helped me move my plan forward for the life I want for my extended family. That's far more interesting to me than most of the conversations we were even having on BT in 2018 or 2019, let alone more recently.

Yes, agreed. I’m here because the Bitcoin thought space has undeniably plateaued. The talking heads are leading newcomers and existing followers astray, and the space feels increasingly lost—becoming fiat again.

Energy is often talked about as the single most important aspect of Bitcoin, yet there’s a glaring flaw in this narrative: why hasn’t the energy been quantified? People just assume this has already been done, but it hasn’t.

This idea has been brewing inside me since 2019/2020. I’ve always seen Bitcoin as energy and worked to build a logical framework to understand the system. Recently, I had a breakthrough that finally allowed me to put it on paper.

In the process of quantifying satoshis and Bitcoin in joules, I discovered something profound: physics, as we currently understand it, is wrong. The current framework is incapable of answering this question. It leaves us with two possibilities: either it’s impossible to price Bitcoin in joules, or Bitcoin fixes physics.

People cannot use Bitcoin to ground themselves if Bitcoin is not grounded in energy. While we intuitively know Bitcoin is tied to energy through mining, we are recreating fiat illusions because we haven’t quantified it. Everyone is still pricing Bitcoin in fiat, but even the maxis who claim “1 BTC = 1 BTC” aren’t doing us any favors. While I understand what they’re trying to say, it’s clear they remain lost in how Bitcoin truly moves beyond a fiat price.

Joules await us. The model is ready.

I wonder if people on bitcoin twitter will still continue to get proper knowledge and information

As people come to Nostr day by day, twitter will become more of a shitcoin clown show.

Being a bitcoiner is about continuous progression in life in all areas. 💯

A guy showed up at nostr:npub1key55ax33gkl50uqemvl4khrtqrhzm7wzpc7fhseutt5ddkcwcrqgxlt3h a couple of months ago and tried to shill me a memecoin. I won't name it here, it doesn't matter. I asked him point blank why he was into it, to the extent that he had seeminlgy made it his entire personality. He kept saying it had a great "community," which makes no sense at all, since as an actual community-builder, I know how long it takes to build something genuine that people want to be a part of. I then asked him what utility or unique feature his coin had, and not only did he not have an answer for me, he openly admitted that it didn't have one. Finally, I asked him what his plan was for the future. Would he hold onto this coin forever because he felt so strongly about its [insert some characteristic here]? He said no, he still planned to sell it "when" it pumped, because, you know, internet marketers need to make a living. I left this interaction feeling sad, not just for him, but for the entire crypto "community."

That is sad.

It’s total nihilism.

I would argue the chatter of the day is AI-agents. An almost unbelievable and exiting development. And yes, they also create an unbelievable amount of shitcoins. But I wonder where this narrative will take us in ‘25 and beyond.
