just put the IR capability back into phones 😉

Why? When the battery dies you just press the buttons a little harder.

Put them in the refrigerator first.

Or bang the remote against the table top a couple of times. Always works.

Yes, and glued to the living room table

This kinda fucked me up 😅 of all the devices...

Word.

I'd go one step further... IF the TV that the remote belongs to cost more than 500 dollars, it should have a BACKLIT remote. When did they all get rid of them?

Even my $3000 TV has no freaking backlight on the remote..

En-shitification man...

Aren't rechargeable AA/AAA batteries more convenient? Instant top up.

All TV remotes should be your phone.

No! I don't want to look where the fuck I need to touch the screen. I want to feel a button below my finger and be sure I can smash it ten times to increase the volume by exactly 10.

Ok boomer.

I have my phone set up so that when I'm listening to music, short pressing volume changes the volume, and long pressing changes the song. Maybe it can be same but with channel instead of tracks.

I have something similar with Kodi and Kore remote app, it's convenient for searching a media and yes for volume and next song, but for browsing movies on screen and navigating options using arrows, it's a pain, I always end up click on another button or just in a blank space, and have to look at my phone and back at the screen.

Also if you have kids, you definitely don't want them to use your phone to choose their cartoons.

AA's or GTFO. My TV remote should outlive the TV; not die some premature death due to lithium ion battery depletion.

no, users should have a choice of what battery to use and freedom to replace them. any form factor of battery can be rechargable including AA. built in batteries are engineered obsolesence and tvs last too long for the remote to be engineered like that.

Everything should be rechargeable.

Gotta find the fucker first.

Rechargeable but not glued in. Nowadays pocket lights come with charging plugs. Must be dirt cheap to add a USB C plug and circuit.

Mine are lasting years, most devices should have rechargable batteries but TV remotes are at the very bottom of the list.

Did you prefer when ylur watch was not rechargeable but lasting 2-3 years or when it is but last barely a day?

Also, many battery devices should not even exist in the first place, the amount of garbage produced like stupid deco lights for kids of the poorest quality and useless gadgets "just for fun" that loose interest after 5 uses.

Buy the TV in China and he will find it out.

All devices should have swappable batteries in my opinion. Especially game controllers should just use AA's. My good ones do and its so much better to charge a set of AA's in 2 hours and have it last weeks.

Of course recharging is important to, but thats why they should put rechargables in the box so you have options.
