I have an unhealthy obsession with keeping every usb cable i come in contact with. It’s becoming a problem.
Discussion
Most usb cables are old and slow, even the stuff people buy in stores as “new”.
I bought a few top of the line cables and threw away an entire drawer of old cables. Felt great!
You might wanna make sure jb55 doesn't get his hands on your cables!
The new usbc is 40gbps transfer and charges at 240w, but you need a charger that is capable of outputting that and a device that can charge at that and most don’t - not even the new iPhones (not sure about android). I think only the frame laptop can currently charge at 240w. So it’s more future-proofing than anything but the transfer speeds are awesome - but again, depend on your device ports. (Usb4, thunderbolt 4, pcie4, display port 2.0)
i need to do this
You're not alone. I have bags full of cables myself, sorted by type. Comes in useful often because my kids are always losing, misplacing or damaging cords somehow. I started saving every one I came across because I got tired of buying replacements 10x a month.
Right there with you brother.
I feel your pain… I was finally able to throw out about 20 old cables a couple months back when I was cleaning my desk
As soon as I discover one that doesn't do data (incl. not anymore), the scissors come out. Can save your future self a lot of time.
Every adult has "the box"
Bro… it’s a problem. I got a whole file draw full of cables
Make something artistic with them all.
No this is the way. I have a container tub full of cables. There has never been a time when a family member asked "do you have a cable that can go to this"...yes, yes I do.
I have this problem as well... along with every power cable. Have a whole freaking tote of them. One time I actually needed one and was on vacation. Had to go to walmart to buy one... it was almost $20 dollars. I hated paying for it. The end.
