Pretty extreme effort, likely will see a few more finding #nostr after companies put in more restrictions to keep up with compliance

Where are you getting that you can no longer criticize the government from? Doesn't the law only target visual depictions of abhorrent content like terrorist acts? Don't get me wrong the law is dumb but I'm not seeing how this means they can't criticize the government.

They explain what the definition of abhorrent content is:
"Abhorrent violent material is limited to very specific categories of the most egregious, violent audio, visual or audio-visual material produced by a perpetrator or their accomplice. The definition includes video, still images (including a series of still images) and audio recordings.
It must stream or record conduct where a person engages in a terrorist act (involving serious physical harm or death of another person), murders or attempts to murder another person, tortures another person, rapes another person or kidnaps another person (where the kidnapping involves violence or the threat of violence). This conduct is referred to as ‘abhorrent violent conduct’. The definition does not include material recording animated, re-enacted or fictionalised conduct."
I still don't agree with the law but this isn't about the ability to criticize a government at all.
What is happening im Australia is so sad.
Some of us have been writing letters and petitions and opposing these bills since they really ramped up pushing them through during covid but people just do not care.
It is unbelievable how blue pilled the average Australian is.
And those that are not blue pilled are black pilled. They see no hope.
The way we were treated during the covod lockdowns really broke a lot of spirits.
We were not allowed to leave our houses.
I had to have a permit with me at all times when leaving the house for work.
There were roadblocks and checkpoints.
We were required to use an app to check in to all locations.
Could not even go shopping without a vaccine. I was kicked out of a store when I was the only person in there by the owner. So many relished in their chance to be morally superior and powerful.
We had a 5km circle drawn around our houses and if we went outside this circle we were fined.
And if you dared to protest you were met with police in armored vehicles with tear gas and rubber bullets firing wildly in to crowds. You were rounded up by cops. Beaten. Then called a nazi for daring to ask for your basic rights. Facebook posts supporting these protests led to arrests.
Australians learnt first hand that we have no rights.
Most people cheered on the government keeping us safe.
Those that were remained were left broken and lost hope.
Quite the picture you paint. It's not really the state that worries me, it's my fellow citizen. They are too great a number for change to happen. Bitcoiners are refugees in search of a home, I see no alterative than to move to the best jurisdiction we can and let the blue pilled enjoy their choices. They've had too many opportunities to wake up and turned them down for there to be realistic to hope imo.

The saddest part is that even though it got so bad it was not enough to "wake" most people up. And if that didn't do it I fear nothing will.

Large population of dense people. Most will love that the gov is there to protect them from mean words and "conspiracy" theories that sometimes become true.
Aussies I’ve leant love their government & most arent prepared to ask the hard questions
I am not sure if there is anything we can do in the next ~5 years or so. But we have the duty to either leave a better place for our kids or the get hell out. My kids will be the right to think for themselves, do research and speak their minds. That's non-negotiable.

i only regret not leaving the place when i had a dutch passport in 2004, instead i waited another 8 years to get fed up with how much friction and red tape there was for me trying to run my own freelance business... in 2012 it became obvious that there was no way i was ever escaping from being long term unemployed and welfare dependant
sure i have spent a few years here in europe since then homeless, but i also have been able to get work, and actually accumulate money
