I know a lot of you are feeling depressed about declining growth stats on Nostr, but on the bright side, at least it seems like the full-time Xitter people have stopped showing up to drop their occasional bad takes.

I think (hope) the world will catch up. Nostr isn't an end goal... It's an evolution... You know what I mean.

But yeah. A touch dishrartening that Bitcoin and Nostr aren't massive in normie world.

Honestly media hosting is the biggest issue.

Primal limits how much you can upload.

All the other clients are too complicated for non technical normies.

People need a better starting point.

And finding people worth following when you first get here is difficult.

I don’t care and don’t notice. I gave up all social media for Nostr. I don’t have anything to compare it to. #nostronly

amen

I just see more and more landscape being built out on Nostr rails. Throw into that the interoperability with #cashu, obviously Ln and privacy tools.

To me it's growing 💪🎯

Having started a Tutoring business on Nostr, I know for sure we onboarded one new person, of not two, who found out about our tutoring from someone who shared about it elsewhere.

I don't know if they'll be super active, but at least one will need to come back weekly because it's how we communicate with our clients 😎

I know nothing about Nostr stats other than that 🤣

If there are less bots, I'm fine!

I prefer keeping it small and like minded.

Quality vs Quantity 💯

This community punches so far above it's weight. Love it

Nostr’s quiet now, perfect for actually building stuff or just shitposting in peace.

declining growth stats?

I thought this place has been lit...

Don’t feel depressed at all

True capital allocation with our attention, where can you go wrong?

Growth stats are irrelevant when on a long enough time horizon combined with the inability to switch an npub off

i like your Dgaf energy.

i tried setting up somebody on Nostr recently. they wanted to follow topics. i could just give them my follow list or the follow list of one of my follows that I know won't get them in trouble.

i'm sure what they are looking for is on another client, and I probably need to break out of the walled garden of my follow list to find other people.

i also need to up my Nostr skills so i can figure out how to set up topics for other people.

i think what i'm getting at is my own comfort has limited my nostr growth, and it's probably time to step out of comfort zone. this is a feeling i'm getting recently.

Their is a proof-of-work component to Nostr use

You have to go and find the content

You are the algo!

Proof of work is a good way of putting it.

Also by dgaf, I meant I like how people create here without worrying how big the audience is. Somewhat like comedy club vibe right now.

I noticed a decline in bots.

That might be what's making it look like the growth rate is declining.

You are here; I am here.

We are here. 🫂

I legit haven’t noticed less activity. Have you seen this in your own network or just specifically stats from somewhere? 🤔

Stats according to nostr.band are on the slide. My own network is strong, but not really growing quickly. I’m also not seeing as many #introductions posts anymore.

Hmm, if it’s true that new people are no longer making their way here, I would suppose there’s an element here tied to the fact that the login/key process is still clunky and intimidating.

No normie is going to safely and intuitively use Nostr with the current state of the key system. But it seems a ton of people are hand waving this away or acting like it’s too hard or not important to solve. 🤔

Obvious it’s not the only thing, and there’s plenty of reasons the network cycle may be in a bear market, but I would gander that plays a meaningful part.

We kinda shut the door behind us with WoT

What else could we have done though…we were under a spam attack.

NOSTR will naturally filter out the nkice when others ( bad actors ) realize that they're antics don't work here ...

There’s always a plus side. Sometimes the plus side isn’t on your side.

Slow and steady wins the race
