How did we get here?

Donald Trump tanked the economy based on a book his son-in-law found on Amazon.

He told Jared Kushner to find him an economic advisor—someone who could make him “look tough” and talk tough on China. Jared searched Amazon, saw a book called Death by China, and thought the title was “cool.” So he cold-called the author, Peter Navarro, and gave him a job.

Navarro had no real economic credibility—just an obsession with tariffs and a made-up expert named “Ron Vara” whom he cited repeatedly in his books.

Who’s Ron Vara? A fictional economist Navarro invented. It’s an anagram of his own name.

This is not a joke. This is literally how the Trump administration created its trade policy—one that wiped out $11 trillion in wealth, crashed markets, and is nearly sending the world into another Great Depression.

A fake expert. A book cover. An Amazon search.

That’s it. That’s how we got here.

Okay now I have to know where you found out the info for that claim because it's hilarious. In a cynical way.

And Navarro was/is an andvisor

Great and a new rabbit hole to go down.

And how do you happen to have something that highlights the Trump thought process on bringing that guy in? This is great by the way

A guy who self-quoted himself in a phony book is an official advisor on the topic he wrote an ass-pulled book about. And as I understand they're following his advice. How did that exactly happen that he was appointed is the trivia section at this point

I don't know, but do you not see the humor in this? If this is the case and the mindset that brought this guy in are we at the top of clown world

Okay, so I'm able to go through and start reading that Wikipedia thing now that I'm not driving. Doesn't seem like a phony book hits on some good points. I haven't read the book though clearly so that's my caveat

He quotes an imaginary person with a name being an anagram of his own name. If that doesn't scream phony to you then I don't have anything to add

Yeah but the issues in the wiki you provided aren't phony though. Those are actual issues that they are known to do. I can't help the anagram that's just dumb. I haven't read the book so don't know the validity of the rest of it, just from the wiki summary.

I'm also still interested on the process for choosing him because if laid out the way OP did that's hilariously sad

If it's even partially true and they follow his advice to the dismay of many parties then I struggle to think of good reasons to hire him 😂

I'd sure hate to look up an interview Trump did with Oprah in the 80's.

Me too because I don't have the time to invest in it and and Trump is a showman and the only thing I like about him is his ability to troll.

What did I miss from it

It pre dates the Death by China by about 15 years and has a considerably younger Trump saying exactly the same things he's saying now.

Ahh okay cool thanks. I mean the economist and foreign policy magazines have been saying that same stuff for years. So I wasn't sure how those points made the book phony. The anagram thing is still dumb.

Thank you for that

Isn’t that the same way how Saif became advisor to president Bukele? 😏

Said is at the very least an actual economist.

I know, I love Saif, I’m just teasing 😈

What is the source of this information?

I'm peter navaro

Okaaaay…

I thought you went by Ron Vara on Nostr

That's my onlyfans account name

When will I learn oh when

Is this a parody account?

Bold move for sure, let's see how it plays out 😎

Source?

I had to look it up a lot of the facts checkout and demonstrates Navarro character. He did even tell his co-author that Ron Vara was made up.

Is that really 11 trillion in wealth or fiat funny money. When they print a trillion does that create that much wealth?
