What if we carved out a space on Nostr specifically for whistleblowers a place where real, people across all walks of life and fields , high-quality investigative journalists (among others) can share critical information without risking disruption to their real-life identities? Not the hysteria-inducing kind, but the serious, evidence-based reporting that deserves a safe, censorship-free platform

It's forbidden knowledge the people want.... It's TRUTH
Yeah...some do.
Many only want validation even if the validation is false.
Deep down, most people just want comfortable lies.
Almost nobody wants to know the truth.
If they did, the youtube video in my NOSTR profile would have gone viral by now.
For real. I suggested the content in your video is sound and legit to a friend who has happened to have already seen it because he follows the channel that you were interviewed in. It led to an argument which resulted in him essentially blocking me. Haven't spoke since. Was it bound to happen regardless? Sure why not, but why not it be an uncomfortable truth be the catalyst?
Sorry your friend did that.
I'm curious what the argument was about specifically.
I'm happy to be corrected if I am wrong about something but the thing is that Occam's Razor comes into play on a lot of these things.
If I'm wrong about X, but X connects to A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, and J, now I have A-J to reconsider, but if I'm right about X and my detractor is wrong, Occam's razor is satisfied and so am I.
The argument was about my unwillingness to explain what was said in your video to the nth degree. He seemed to think I owed him an explanation, rather than him look into it himself. He decided at that point, given that I was unwilling to explain, to stop all communication going forward, for whatever reason.
It's like climbing a hill with a friend, but if nobody is willing to meet you at your height, then your kind of on your own.
The more veils one pierces, the less company one tends to have.
I used to think the Bitcoin version of the Cassandra complex was difficult to bear, but this is a whole new level of Cassandra complex.
I know exactly what you mean and the first major topic covered in that video is an example.
One person commented "Having 5 birthmarks in places where someone in the past was stabbed as proof of reincarnation is reach imo. Unless the child knew that person personal details without being informed of it ofc but the guest was not really clear on that."
What's funny about that comment is that it betrays the commenter. I KNOW they didn't go read Dr. Stevenson's and Dr. Tucker's research because the 5 butcher knife mark example was completely fabricated by me. There were a number of real cases from Univ. of VA's research that are similar to that fabricated example, but none (as far as I know) that are exactly like what I described.
What I wanted to offer in that video was enough of a sample taste of the overall narrative, the science that supports it, and a set of religious/esoteric interpretations consistent with all of the above that people would want to go chase down the information I offered in summary format and see for themselves.
I think a lot of people REALLY don't like anything that suggests that they have allocated their time and attention in anything less than THE OPTIMAL way in their life. If they haven't studied the stuff I cover, and the stuff I cover is valid, that makes them feel like they have misallocated their time/attention up until this point. It's easier to ignore the video or declare it wrong.
Who knows, though. Maybe he was just having a bad day and snapped.
"Truth is like poetry. And most people fucking hate poetry."
-The Big Short
To seek knowledge because it is forbidden is the seeking of power for personal gain. One might do so because they are scared or to hurt the one who forbids. If you are seeking truth it doesn’t matter if the source is forbidden or not. For example I know a bit about things from esoteric sources, but I didn’t seek them for that purpose. I started because I was seeking truth about health and growing plants and came upon biodynamic farming. Now I picked up the pace when I had my girlfriends health to concern me and that wasn’t 100% altruistic. Thankfully I’ve enough discernment to have stuck primarily to sources that have ennobled my desires and now I continue to learn but less out of fear and personal gain than I started with.
Truth can be sought in every day things. A well made tool, a beautiful person, even a Disney villain who truly embodies evil and is depicted as being ultimately defeated.
What's wrong with personal gain?
Depends, personal gain in order to better fulfill your purpose of serving is fine. Sometimes we need fun or pleasure for our own proper functioning. Seeking personal gain purely for our own benefit is to take from others without repayment.
It has nothing to do with the intent of “personal gain” or what it’s for. It’s entirely about whether it is earned through trade or taken through fraud or coercion.
To personally gain, entirely for your own benefit, by doing a service for other like mowing their lawn, fixing their plumbing, or whatever. This is the very definition of helping others to help yourself. Thats what trade IS
There is trade, then there is theft. If you are voluntarily trading, there’s nothing at all wrong with personal gain. To the contrary, it’s what makes the entire economy work and why money is a tool to force people to cooperate, even those who would rather not.
I was referring to the seeking of knowledge because it is forbidden. That is not trade. You are not totally self seeking in “doing a service for other”. Also as I said in my first post that I was seeking that knowledge and gaining from it, but that gain wasn’t an end in itself. I bet you there are few who would openly admit that they seek wealth solely for the sake of acquiring wealth. Surely you have some purpose in life beyond that.
Why carve out a special place for them? Why can't they just post notes like everybody else? And if so, who decides who is allowed in this space and who is not?
They absolutely can just post notes like everyone else and that’s what Nostr is But the idea behind carving out a dedicated space isn’t about exclusion, it’s about visibility/structure/and trust and all the tools they would need
I don’t know if your familiar with real whistleblowers, but they’d need more than just a note field on Nostr. New tools can be added for them on top of the protocol things like: Timed or conditional publishing
Dead man’s switches , Encrypted attachments with selective disclosure
And then Zero-knowledge proof systems to verify authenticity without exposing sources , for the rest of us
They’d go troughs that process and get a label on their profile , no need for editors , the rest of Nostr can freely interact with them with whatever opinions they have
That would be revolutionary , We have tor browser and . onion with bridges and to build nostr for that .
That’s the aimed for Tor browser or . Onion so that journalist or whistleblower can do reporting without revealing the identity .
Let’s donate to tor project is the best thing individual can do for now . Each of Individuals small
